The date preceding the obituary is the date of posting on the WWW, not the date of death. ============================= Sunday, September 4, 2005 Joseph Baker Joseph Thomas Baker Sr., 69, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Houma, died at 4:04 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to funeral time Monday at Plymouth Rock Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at noon at the church, with burial at Union Benevolent Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Carrie A. Robinson Baker; two sons, Joseph T. Baker and wife Kendra, of Houma and Lance K. Jackson of Houma; three daughters, Genece D. Baker of Houma, Gena A. Theriot and husband, Frederick, and Shawanna Nixon and husband, Cassius; two brothers, Kerry Poole of San Francisco and Jewroyal Poole of Denver; five sisters, Mary Roland and husband, James of Seattle, Clara Thurman and husband, Willard of Dayton, Ohio, and Charlotte Harding, Mary Felton and Ethel Robinson, all of Houma; and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Baker, Pacheana Hartman Poole and Samuel Poole; one brother, Earl Jerome Baker; and two sisters, Carrie Poole and Merlene Poole Robinson. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was retired from Texaco and the Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government.
