Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Friday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Mass will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. He is survived by his wife, Laura Nancy Tucker Haydel of Houma; three daughters, Lisa Haydel Belton and husband, Larry, of Houma, Jan Haydel Layton and husband, Criss, of The Woodlands, Texas, and Laura Kay Haydel Hebert and husband, Kent, of Houma; two sisters, Marie Louise Daigneault and Martha Jane Blank of Houma; five grandchildren, Shawn Belton, Tracee Belton Bennett, Cortney Layton, Kristen Layton and Cameron Hebert; and one great-grandchild, Zachary Belton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Victorian Haydel Sr. and Louise Cunningham Haydel; one son, Michael Paul Haydel; one sister, Rosemary Haydel Bergeron; and one grandchild, Julie Layton Rountree. He was a retired health-care worker with Chabert Medical Center and a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
