Sidney Matherne

Sidney J. Matherne, 93, a native and resident of Bayou Gauche, died at 9:30 p.m. 
Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005.

Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. today at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland 
and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at St. Gertrude Catholic Church. Mass 
will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial in Sunset Cemetery in 
Bayou Gauche.

He is survived by three sons, Curlis, Roland and Gerald Matherne; two daughters, 
Clairbell Thompson and Mary Ann Bourgeois; two brothers, Hector and Victor 
Matherne; 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-
grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alida Comardelle Matherne; his parents, 
Jacques and Henrietta S. Matherne; one son, Lloyd Matherne; four brothers, Tony, 
Felix, Sam and Arthur Matherne; and one great-grandchild.
