Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home chapel, with burial in St. Eloi Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Ermaline Wassinger Benoit of Theriot; seven sons, Steve Benoit, Richard Benoit and wife Debi, W.J.?Jimmy? Benoit and wife, Karen, Peter Benoit and wife, Denise, Joey Benoit and wife, Patricia of Houma, Thomas Benoit and wife, Debbie, of Picayune, Miss., and David Benoit and wife, Elise, of Katy Texas; two daughters, Mary Benoit and companion, Kenny Westerman, of Houma and Yvonne Breaux of Theriot; 20 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fernest Benoit and Ida Benoit; and one son-in-law, Nelson Breaux; one brother, Rodney Benoit; and one sister, Alice Mae Jones. He was a retired oilfield construction worker with Superior Oil Company and a parishioner of St. Eloi Catholic Church.
