John Cantrelle Sr., 68, a native and resident of Larose, died at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Larose. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Earline Poche Cantrelle; three sons, Armojen John Cantrelle Jr., Peter Cantrelle and David Cantrelle; three daughters, Claudine C. Dufrene, Evelyn C. Loftin and Valerie C. Lussier; three brothers, Earl, Anthony and Michael Cantrelle; two sisters, Marie C. Allemand and Loretta C. Foret; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jules and Claudine Fonseca Cantrelle; four brothers, Jules, Maurice, Brenton and Benton Cantrelle; and four sisters, Agnes C. Plaisance, Lorenza C. Bonvillain, Claudine Cantrelle and Brenda Cantrelle. He was a retired tug captain and a maritime instructor at the local Houston Marine School in Larose for five years. He was a 3rd degree Knights of Columbus, a member of the Holy Name Society, an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist and coordinator of Perpetual Adoration and St. Joseph's Altar at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Larose. He was past member of the pastoral council and a parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church.
