Melancon, 85, a native of Lockport and resident of Cut Off, died at 5:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2005. Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Friday at Samart Funeral Home in Cut Off. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Larose, with burial in the church cemetery. She is survived by three sons, James Melancon and wife, Telesia, Vincent Melancon and wife, Denise, and Kenneth Melancon and wife, Teresa; one daughter, Mary Ann Melancon; one brother, Roland Badeaux; two sisters, Velma B. Orgeron and Nolena B. Detillier; five grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Paul Melancon; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alcibiade Badeaux; one son, Lester Melancon Jr.; two brothers, Hayes and Clarance Badeaux; and five sisters, Celica LeBlanc, Ida Mae Savoie, Elise Belanger, Annie Richard and Helen LeBlanc. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church.
