Murphy, a resident of Houston, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, following a brief illness. Visitation will be at 1:30 p.m. to service time Monday at Metropolitan Baptist Church. A funeral service in thanksgiving for his life will be at 2:30 p.m. at the church, with interment at Memorial Oaks Cemetery. He was the beloved husband of 50 years of JoAnn Walker Murphy; the cherished father of daughters Kari Bergamo and husband, Jim, and Kimberly Bibby and husband, Pete; adored by his four grandchildren, Katie and Christopher Bergamo, and Andrew and Luke Bibby. He is also survived by his sister, Valerie Brown. Jack was a kind, Christian man, a friend to many and a stranger to none. His remarkable wit brightened everyone's day. His keen business acumen brought him success in his endeavors in the oil industry, rising to the position of general sales manager of Cameron Iron Works during his 25-year tenure. He then started Brannco Inc., a highly successful brokerage company, serving as CEO. In his free time, he was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting and fishing with his friends and grandsons. Klein Funeral Home of Klein, Texas, is in charge of arrangements.
