Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church in Raceland. Mass will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, with burial in Resurrection Memorial Park Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Rose Billiot Sampey; one son, Ryan Sampey; two daughters, Cynthia Boudreaux and Kelly Babineaux; one brother, Virgil Sampey; four sisters, Earline Theriot, Katie Theriot, Manuella Adams and Dolly Anderson; six grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elvans Sampey and Lorita Dufrene Sampey. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 349 of Raceland and St. Hilary Knights of Columbus. He was a parishioner of St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church.
