Detiveaux, 70, a native of Bourg and resident of Bayou Blue, died at 8:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, 2005. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Samart Funeral Home in Bayou Blue and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Friday at St. Louis Catholic Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Bettie Ann Chatagnier Detiveaux; three daughters, Ava Luquette and husband, Rick, Lana Babin and companion, Ernest Woods, and Anita McElroy and husband, Terry; five brothers, Allen Detiveaux and wife, Carolyn, Donald Detiveaux and wife, Faye, Reynold Detiveaux and wife, Jeanette, Alton Detiveaux and wife, Rose, and Alcee "AJ" Detiveaux; two grandchildren, Crissy Luquette Balfour and Angelique Babin; and two great-grandchildren, Casey Balfour and Natasha Balfour. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Violet Chauvin Detiveaux; three brothers, Irvin, Rufus and Leslie Detiveaux; and one sister, Georgie Martin. He was retired from Terrebonne Parish School Board and was in the U.S. National Guard. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, church choir, usher society and a parishioner of St. Louis Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, cooking and spoiling his grandchildren. Samart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
