Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Friday at St. Louis Catholic Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Yvonne Klingman Pontiff; four sons, Ricky Pontiff and wife, Jean, of Houma, Michael Pontiff and fiancee', Marcel Arceneaux, of Lafayette, Mark Pontiff and wife, Melissa, of Houston and Greg Pontiff and wife, Rhonda, of Houma; one daughter, Julie P. Arcement and husband, Floyd, of Houma; one daughter-in-law, Lou T. Pontiff of Houma; three brothers, Edward Pontiff Jr. and wife, Evelyn, Gene Pontiff and wife, Shirley, and Gerard Pontiff and wife, Sharon, of Houma; one sister, Marie Pontiff Lapeyre and husband, Harold, of Houma; three step-brothers, Lance Brien Jr., Larry Brien and wife, Judy, and Daniel Brien and wife, Claire, of Houma; two step-sisters, Beverly Brien Fenton and husband, Richard, of Tampa, Fla., and Bonnie Brien Caro and companion, Berris Rodrigue, of Houma; and nine grandchildren, Amanda Pontiff, Ryan Pontiff, Andrew Arcement, Phillip Arcement, Christopher Pontiff, Benjamin Pontiff, Victoria Pontiff, Lauren Pontiff and Madison Pontiff. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Joseph Pontiff Sr. and Laura Martin Pontiff; his stepfather, Lance Brien; one step-brother, Johnnie Brien and wife, Jenny; and one step-sister, Margie Brien Giglio and husband, Louis. He was a retired plant foreman of 38 years with Freeport McMoRan and a member of the Knights of Columbus and Sugarlane Country Club. He enjoyed playing golf and socializing with his friends. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was a parishioner of St. Louis Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Bayou Region Hospice, 195 Corporate Drive, Houma, LA 70360 Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
