Visitation is from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland and 8 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church in Mathews. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with burial at St. Mary's Cemetery in Raceland. He is survived by two sons, James H. Minchew Jr. and wife, Laura, and Brian J. Minchew and wife, Lauren; four daughters, Carol A. Minchew and companion, Joe Guidry, Donna M. Bouvier and husband, Tyler, Tina M. Fontana and husband, James, and Trudy A. Thibodaux and husband, Travis; 14 grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry L. Minchew and Etta Minchew; one daughter, Tammy L. Minchew; one brother, Charles Mason Minchew; four grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He served in the National Guard, was retired from Avondale Shipyards and a member of Raceland Lions Club.
