Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Religious service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home chapel, with burial in Colonial Cemetery in Independence. She is survived by one daughter, Katherine J. McKay of Belvidere, Ill.; one son- in-law, Andrew Dagro of Independence; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Elbert Brown; her parents, Louis Schwerdtfeger and Matilda Kiesling Schwerdtfeger; one daughter, Mary Lea Brown Dagro; one brother, Louie Schwerdtfeger; and five sisters, Rose Demuth, Lillie Belousek, Mary Kerr, Emma Evans and Tillie Tomlimson. She was a homemaker and was past queen of the Krewe of Houmas in 1956. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
