Melvin VanMatre					Picture

Melvin VanMatre, 74, a native of Raymond-ville, Texas, and resident of 
Schriever, died at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, 2005.

Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to funeral time 
Friday at Thibodaux Funeral Home. Religious service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday 
at First United Methodist Church in Thibodaux, with burial in Garden of Memories 
Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy LaNell VanMatre; one son, Robert Mark 
VanMatre and wife, Danyel; two daughters, Dorothy Kim VanMatre and husband, 
Bryan Marcel, and Christina VanMatre Oubre and husband, Todd Oubre; four 
brothers, Harvey VanMatre of Texas, Bill VanMatre of Louisiana, Johnny VanMatre 
of Texas and Joseph VanMatre of Louisiana; five sisters, Alice Campbell of 
Louisiana, Dora Ellen Harper of Texas, Margie Shradder of Texas, Clara Ruth 
VanMatre of Texas and Lois Hodgson of Oklahoma; and 10 grandchildren, Brittany 
VanMatre, Dylan VanMatre, Jada Oubre, Joshua Oubre, Michael Marcel, Robert 
VanMatre Jr., Jayla Oubre, Joshlynn Oubre, Ryan VanMatre and Jayden Oubre.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clovis and Mammie Bunch VanMatre; one 
son, James Lee VanMatre; and two brothers, Ralph VanMatre and Clovis VanMatre.

Thibodaux Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
