Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. He is survived by three sons, Vernon James "Jim" Babin and wife, Janet, of Houma, Dr. Michael "Mike" Charles Babin of Columbus, Ohio, and Terry Lynn Babin and wife, Regina, of Houma; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Champagne Babin; and his parents, Howard J. Babin and Selina Naquin Babin. He was a retired chief deputy assessor with Terrebonne Parish with 38 years of service and was a U.S. Army Air Corp sergeant of World War II. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, a volunteer with St. Francis de Sales, Terrebonne Church United Food Bank and Terrebonne Council on Aging.
