Later, he worked for the Air Force, Army and NASA as a quality-control inspector in the U.S. Government's Civil Service Department for more than 35 years. When he moved to Florida, he worked in the same capacity on the Apollo space project at the Cape in the '70s. He retired where he opened his own business as an aviation inspector and built airplanes. He was active in his business until age 84. Richard was a pilot, adventurer and world traveler who spoke several languages. He belonged to the NRA and was a member of the American Legion for more than 29 years. Post No. 315 was his post in Louisiana. Richard believed in God and country and served his country well. He was preceded in death by his wife, Allie LeBoeuf Cuneo; his parents, Joseph Cuneo and Catherine Guise Cuneo; two sons, Norman J. Cuneo and Byron Cuneo; four brothers, Herbert, Irvin, Lawrence and Raymond Cuneo; and six sisters, Lorena LeBouef, Rita Champagne, Ophelia Lirette, Beatrice Theriot, Florence Dugas and Williana Foret.
