Please go to http://www.rootsweb.com/%7eusgenweb/la/terrebonne/obits/2006/t0611.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Flossie "Flo" Coco Falgoust Horan, 88, a native of Moreauville and resident of Thibodaux, died at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at St. Joseph Co- Cathedral in Thibodaux. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. There will be at graveside service at 3 p.m. Saturday at Green Oaks Memorial Chapel, with burial in Green Oaks Cemetery in Baton Rouge. Horan is survived by two sons, Quentin D. Falgoust of Thibodaux and Gregory C. Falgoust of Lockport; four daughters, Pamela Falgoust Willard of Baton Rouge, Moira Horan Lagarde of Thibodaux, Sonia Horan Perrone of Franklin. Tenn. and Brendan Horan of Bradenton, Fla.; one brother, Clyde Coco of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Sadie Coco Gremillion of Baton Rouge and Genevieve Coco Christy of Mt. Dora, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and dozens of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, James. D. Falgoust and Joseph S. Horan; four brothers, Ronald, Rodney, Lamar and W.A. Coco; and two sisters, Thelma Coco Jordan and Lillian Coco Mason. Horan grew up as one of 10 children on a cotton farm in rural Avoyelles Parish. Her father, Wilmore Coco, was on the first LSU football team, and her mother, Sadie Leet, was a school teacher across the Mississippi River in Bayou Sara. The couple raise their children in Moreauville until 1930, when not long after Mr. Coco's death, the family lost the farm and the hard times of the Great Depression forced them to move to Baton Rouge when Horan was 12. In Baton Rouge, Horan eventually met her first husband, James D. Falgoust, a native of Vacherie and an Air Force test pilot, who would die in a plane crash while testing a plane during the Korean Conflict. She later married Joseph S. Horan, a native of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and a city planner, who eventually brought her to Thibodaux in 1974 when he took a job with the South Central Planning and Development Commission. Throughout her life, she held full-time and part-time work to contribute income to the household while raising six children. Her work included a typing service for college students, years as a part-time secretary for Baton Rouge architect A. Hays Town, and she was her son Quentin's first office manager in Thibodaux. She was a long-time resident of St. Joseph Manor, a place that gave her joy during her final years. Because of her love of the Manor, in lieu of flowers, her family would appreciate donations to St. Joseph Manor Chapel, 1201 Cardinal Drive, in Thibodaux La. 70301. Until a stroke slowed Horan in recent weeks, she remained active and energetic. She always walked fast, smiled big and gave generously to her family, her friends and her church. She was the embodiment of her childhood nickname - "Doucey" -- French for "sweet". She knew how to cook a mean rice and gravy, how to type quickly and accurately, how to spotlessly clean her plate and her house and how to save the last penny. Though frugal, she had a love of low risk gambling and tried to "win the big one" everyday of her life, by constantly entering mail-order sweepstakes, playing bridge by day and bingo by night, and in later years never missing a chance to buy a lottery ticket or take a St. Joseph Manor-sponsored trip to the casino. Her family is happy that she has finally achieved her great reward. ======================== November 21. 2006 3:28PM Karen Plaisance Karen Marie Plaisance, 60, a native of Golden Meadow and resident of Cut Off, died at 10:03 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006.
