Kathleen Babin, 76, was crossing the busy intersection of La. 24 at Martin Luther King Boulevard at 6:45 p.m. when she was hit by a Jeep driven by 25-year- old Steven Eastwood of Houma, State Police said. Eastwood, the Jeep's sole occupant, wasn't injured. Babin was taken to Terrebonne General Medical Center and later transferred to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge for treatment of injuries described at the time as critical.
