Louise Gilchrist and Georgia Nannarone; and her first husband, Chris Manasis who died in an auto accident in 1950 and her husband, Herman C. Crump in 1987. After graduating from GCHS, she was employed by Garnand's Furniture and later by the GC Co-op as a secretary and bookkeeper. She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Soon after marrying Herman C. Crump, the couple moved to Natchitoches where Mr. Crump taught and they both worked with troubled teens for several years. They then settled in Houma to raise their son. Katie was, at various times, a licensed cosmetologist, a sales representative, a counselor and always enjoyed gardening. Her good neighbors and church family in Houma were important to her. Her deep abiding faith in Jesus in her life will be of much solace to her family in her death. Lemoine, 92, a native of Seattle, a longtime resident of Grand Junction, Colo., and resident of Paradise Valley, Ariz., died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007. Family services will be held Friday at Martin Mortuary and Memorial Gardens of the Valley in Grand Junction. She is survived by her four married children, Suzanne LeMoine of Honolulu, Becky Hamlin of Scottsdale, Ariz., Nancy Byers of Longmont, Colo., and Bruce Lemoine of Thibodaux; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She lived in Grand Junction for 55 years, and in 2005 at the age of 90, she finally agreed to move to Paradise Valley to be near her daughter. She will be remembered, depending on when in her life you encountered her, as an athlete, swimmer, drycleaner owner, widow at age 46, treasurer of the Rio Grande Federal Credit Union, PTA President at Lowell School, women's bridge player, bingo player at the Senior Center, European traveler, wife, mother, lover of people, seamstress, thrifty and the list goes on. If one word can describe any person, for her it would be kind. She truly considered others ahead of herself, sacrificed immensely for her four children and spoke only what would bring good into others lives. She was gently ushered into heaven by Jesus, her Lord and her Savior. She lived 55 years in Grand Junction, and in 2005 at the age of 90, she finally agreed to move to Paradise Valley to be near her daughter. She will be remembered, depending on when in her life you encountered her, as an athlete, swimmer, drycleaner owner, widow at age 46, treasurer of the Rio Grande Federal Credit Union, PTA President at Lowell School, women's bridge player, bingo player at the Senior Center, European traveler, wife, mother, lover of people, seamstress, thrifty and the list goes on. If one word can describe any person, for her it would be kind. She truly considered others ahead of herself, sacrificed immensely for her four children and spoke only what would bring good into others lives. She served as president of the Baton Rouge Alumnae Association and as a national officer, Province Alumnae Officer 7 West. For her devoted and outstanding service, she received the prestigious Order of the Emerald Award. She achieved the goals of so many who strive for the honorable, beautiful and the highest.
