"Mr. Beautiful" Aucoin; two sons, Travis Paul Aucoin and Jeff Robert Aucoin; one brother, Daniel J. Frickie; and one sister, Wanda "Mitzi" Duet. He was preceded in death by his mother, Beverly Rita Perere Aucoin. He was a 1971 graduate of Thibodaux High School and was employed by the Assumption Parish Waterworks District as a superintendent for 31 years. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Tattnall (DDG19), USS Robert A Owens (DD865) and the USS C.R. Ware (DD865), where he worked as a ship serviceman, cut hair and ran the ship store. He traveled to 26 countries, and he worked at the Rinky Dink through high school. He was an avid deer hunter and a fisherman. He enjoyed going to casinos. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. His last tour of duty was Vietnam before retiring from military service in 1967. Upon retirement he owned and operated Carter's IGA Foodliner on North Lewis Street in New Iberia where together with his wife, they built a successful business. In 1985 he finally retired from the grocery business, and he became a volunteer employee of Datterive Hospital and the VFW in New Iberia. Upon his return to Lafayette, Rod served as Associate Pastor of Counseling, Celebrate Recovery, Missions and Special Events at East Bayou Baptist Church. Rod loved his animals, especially his little dog, Pete, as well as his feline family, particularly Benny and Reuben. Additionally, Rod had a passion for flying and golf; however, nothing exceeded his passion for serving the Lord. A priva te service will be held at a later date in Pensacola, Florida. "Gus" Lapeyrouse, 50, of Vidor, Texas, died at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont, Texas, Wednesday, April 25, 2007. He is survived by his mother, Josette Lapeyrouse; his father, Dreus Lapeyrouse; his caretaker, William "Buddy" Crenshaw; two brothers, Steve Lapeyrouse and wife, Arlene LeCompte Lapeyrouse, and Armand Lapeyrouse and wife, Melisa White Lapeyrouse; his nieces and nephews Nicholas, Nicole, Caleb, Michael, and Marlene Lapeyrouse; and one great nephew Landon Lapeyrouse all of Chauvin. He was preceded in death by his grand parents Louis and Esaure Lapeyrouse of Chauvin and Mathias and Eugenie Schmit of Europe; and one nephew Jonathon Mathias Lapeyrouse. He received his theology education from St. Benedict in Covington, Norte Dame in New Orleans and Catholic University in Washington D.C. He was a navy veteran, a past pharmacy technician, nurse and upon death worked also as a postal worker. He was a member of the American Legion Post 380 and Knights of Columbus 5013. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Theresa Legendre Roger; one brother, Noland Roger Sr. and wife, Ethel Legendre Roger; two sisters, Flora R. Guillot and Una R. Borne; two sisters-in-law, Beulah O. Roger and Theresa A. Legendre; and numerous relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Julia Leray Roger; three brothers, Freddie, John and Wallace Roger Sr.; and four sisters, Clothilde R. Richard, Laura R. Le Banc, Beatrice R. Lajaunie Peltier and Lena R. Tregre. He was a member of the La. School Bus Operators Association and a retired Lafourche Parish School Bus Driver. He was co-owner of C.N.P. Food Center for 10 years and worked as an oilfield driller for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War with the 45th infantry division 145 AAA-Company D. He trained in Lompoc, Calif., with the 44th infantry division 144 Company C. and was a lifetime member of both Companies. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post No. 5097 where he served as post commander for five different terms and was a member of the American Legion and the WOW Lodge No. 369.
