Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Chauvin Funeral Home and at 8 p.m. until 10 p.m. at Saint Louis Catholic Church, Bayou Blue, today, resuming from 8 a.m. until funeral time. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Louis Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Magnus Labit; two daughters, Mrs. Dean (Amy) Hutchinson and Elaine Labit of Bayou Blue; three brothers, George, Raymond and Eugene Arcement, Sr. all of Houma; three sisters, Mrs. Sam (Edith) deGeneres, Mrs. Terry (Mae) Matherne and Mrs. Phillip (Hattie) Chauvin, all of Houma, and one grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Arcement and two brothers, Eddie and James Arcement. In lieu of flowers, Masses preferred. Chauvin Funeral Home is handling arrangements. ================================== Edith Arcement de Generes Houma Courier Deaths 1992, page 190 Edith Arcement de Generes, 85, a native and a resident of Houma, died at 2:12 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, 1992. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. A Mass will be at 11 a.m. at the church with interment in St. Francis de Sales No. 2 Cemetery. She is survived by two sons, Sam. G. and Chester F. de Generes of Houma, three daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Ida) Robichaux, Mrs. Ira (Eloyne) Bergeron, Mrs. Donald (Edith) Calhoun of Houma; three brothers, George, Raymond and Gene Arcement; and one sister, Mrs. Phillip (Hattie) Chauvin of Houma; 14 grandchildren; and four great grandchilren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Louis de Generes; her parents, Abdon and Eloyne Belanger Arcement; two brothers, Edward and James Arcement; and two sisters, Mrs. Terral (May) Matherne and Mrs. Magnus (Dorothy) Labit. She was a parishioner at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of America, a charter member of Anawim and a board member of the Terrebonne Association of Retarded Citizens. She was a housewife. Mass was at 10 a.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home Chapel with burial in St. Francis de Sales No. 1 Cemetery. She is survived by two sons, Philip Jr. and Robert Chauvin of Houma; two daughters, Mrs. Glen (Phoebe) Morrison of Houma and Mrs. Bill (Dorothy) Underwood; three brothers, Raymond, George and Eugene Arcement; 14 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Charles Chauvin, Sr.; her parents, Abdon Paul and Heloine Marie Belanger Arcement; two brothers, Eddie and James Arcement; three sisters, Mrs. Sam (Edith) De-Generes, Mrs. Terry (May) Matherne and Mrs. Magnus (Dorothy) Labit. Arcement, 86 years of age, a resident of Montegut, La., died in New Orleans, on Friday, September 16th at 3:30 o'clock, p. m. The funeral services were held at the Sacred Heart Church, Montegut, Saturday, September 17th at 2 p. m. from Chauvin Funeral Home. Interment took place in the Bisland cemetery. The deceased is survived by his wife and several children. ================================== May Arcement Matherne Houma Courier Deaths, 1989, page 216 May Arcement Matherne, 72, a native of Montegut and a resident of Houma, died at 9:32 p.m. Tuesday. Visitation will be from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until funeral time Thursday at Chauvin Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. Burial will be in the church's No. 2 Cemetery. She is survived by her husband; Terral J. Matherne Sr.; two sons, Terral J. Matherne Jr. of Pineville, La., and Michael Matherne of Houma; a daughter, Cynthia Matherne of Houma; three brothers, George and Raymond Arcement of Houma and Eugene Arcement of Bayou Blue; two sisters, Edith de Generes and Hattie Chauvin of Houma; and fourgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Abdon and Eloyne Belanger Arcement; two brothers, Eddie and James Arcement; and a sister, Dorothy Labit. She was a parishioner of St. Francis and a Terrebonne Parish school teacher. Chauvin Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
