SLVFR - from South Louisiana Vital Family Records by Terrebonne Genealogicial Society ============================ The Houma Times; Saturday July 13, 1929 Myrtile BERTHELOT Burns Prove Fatal for Houma Man Mr. Myrtile BERTHELOT, 31 years of age, an employee of the Houma Ice Co., who was severely scalded Monday evening, died in the hospital in New Orleans, Wednesday night. Mr. BERTHELOT was working inside of a boiler, when live steam was turned on by the engineer, who didn't know the man was still in the boiler. He was attended by a local physician and then rushed by ambulance to a New Orleans hospital in the hope of saving his life. His remains were brought to Houma for burial in the Catholic Cemetery. Funeral services were held at the St. Francis de Sales Church in Houma, Thursday July 11, at 8 o'clock am. The deceased is survived by his wife and several children; also his father who resides on Little Bayou Black.
