CAROTHERS, aged about fifty-five years. Mr. Carothers was a native of Pennsylvania, but removed to this State at an early age, and became one of the first settlers of the Parish of Terrebonne.--He was by profession, a surveyor, and by his accurate knowledge and great experience, no less than by his faithfulness in the discharge of his duties, he contributed greatly to the satisfactory arrangement of conflicting land titles. He was a good man a good citizen--had many friends, no enemies--and his death has caused universal regret. The loss of an upright, sincere, and capable man, as was Mr. Carothers, is more to be lamented than that of many whom the world call great. Alas! that a just man should die.
