Hamm, 88, passed from this life Friday, July 29, 2005, at his home. Born March 10, 1917 in Franklin, Louisiana. Mr. Hamm had been a resident of New Braunfels for 5 years, previously a long time resident of Hitchcock. He had been a operator at Union Carbide for 36 years and served in the US Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the First Methodist Church in Hitchcock, the John Mitchell Masonic Lodge #1401 AF & AM in Hitchcock, the Scottish Rite Shrine Temple in Galveston and Order of the Eastern Star #1085 in Hitchcock. He was preceded in death by his wife, Garnet Hamm and his parents, Charles and Christine Hamm. Survivors include his son, Charles B. Hamm, Jr. and wife Martha of Texas City; daughter, Kathryn Welch and husband, Ralph of New Braunfels; a sister, Raye Lucy Jubert of Franklin, LA; grandchildren, Michael Allen, Tracy Bayarena, Scott Welch, Keith Welch, Charles B. Hamm III, and Michelle Wilder; great- grandchildren, Tiffany Allen and Ethan Wilder. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2005, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Dr. Michael Deaton officiating. Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery with Masonic Honors under the auspices of John Mitchell Masonic Lodge in Hitchcock. Casketbearers will be Phillip Bartlett, Mike Nelson, Marvin Roehl, Doug Rotenberry, William Self and Leon Yost.
