The date preceding the obituary is the date of the newspaper, not the date of death. ============================ Submitted by: Nancy Wright JAMES POLK The Houma Times, July 17, 1936, page 1, col. 1 Boy Killed Last Sunday James Polk, 19 years old, an employee of the Texas Oil Company was killed last Saturday morning on the Gulf Coast, when he fell from a height of 25 feet on some pilings about the riggings and then bounced into the water. His body was discovered a short time after the accident and a deep gash was found in his head. The fact that he had no water on the lungs is indicative that death was attributed to the fall and not by drowning. He was rushed to the company's warehouse at Montegut and efforts to revive him proved futile. His body was brought to Chauvin Funeral home where it was prepared for shipment to his home town, Pine Prairie, La., for burial. ==========================
