SLVFR - from South Louisiana Vital Family Records by Terrebonne Genealogicial Society ============================ Houma Courier; Tuesday June 14, 1938 Mrs. Nelson SONIER Funeral services for Mrs. Nelson SONIER of this community were held Sunday May 29 at St. Bridgett's church with a large number of sorrowing friends and relatives present. Mrs. SONIER died unexpectedly, Saturday at about 12 o'clock. Her newly-born infant boy also succumbed with his mother. Following the services which were conducted by the Rev. Magnus Roth; the body was conveyed to Labadieville for interment in the family cemetery. There another service was conducted at the sepulchre by Rev. J. Berthault, who preached a beautiful sermon in French. She is survived by her widower and a two year old son, Lynn. Pallbearers were Paul BREAUX, Chester SONIER, Willie STEVENS, Michel SONIER and Murphy BABIN. Funeral arrangements were by T. X. Landry of Labadieville. April 24, 1991 OZEA DAIGLE SONIER Ozea Daigle Sonier, 100, native and resident of Gray, died at 6:15 am, April 23, 1991. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 10 pm and Thursday from 8 am until funeral time at the Thibodaux Funeral Home. A Mass will be said at 11 am at St. Bridget Catholic church in Schriever with interment in the church cemetery. She is survived by two sons, Nelson and Mitchell Sonier; five daughters, Mattie Babin, Jennie Stevens, Vilrey "T. V." Gagneaux, Laura Thibodaux and June Oncale; three stepbrothers, Nelson, Edley and Wilbert Daigle; one stepsister, Nelly Caro; and 25 grandchildren; 62 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Clay N. Sonier; parents, Elphedge and Molly Pitre Daigle; one son, Chester Sonier; and four grandchildren. ======================== Houma Newspaper Deaths, 1996, excerpt Nelson Paul Sonier, 85, native of Bayou Blue, resident of Thibodaux, died Thursday, May 16, 1996. Services at St. Joseph Chr. in Thibodaux, burial in St. Bridget Cem. in Schriever.
