Theriot, one of Houma's prominent business men died at his home here on Wednesday, March 13th at 9:15 am after an illness of short duration. Apoplexy is said to have caused his death. Mr. Theriot was born in Terrebonne Parish, July 30th, 1879. He came to Houma several years ago to operate a livery stable and garage, and later went into the undertaking business, now known as Theriot and Son. He had many friends and relatives in this community and his death will be deeply mourned. Mr. Theriot was a member of the Knights of Colubus, Elks, and Woodmen of the World. He took active part in the social activities of these organizations. The funeral services took place at the St. Francis de Sales Church in Houma, Thursday March 14th at the 8:30 Requiem Mass. Interment took place in the Catholic Cemetery. The deceased is survived by his wife and several children. ANNOTATION: SLR v. 6, p. 406 THERIOT, Justinien Albert (F. Bk., v. 1, p. 55) ============================= The Houma Times; Saturday May 11, 1929 Aurelie THERIOT Terrebonne Parish mourns the loss (of) a noble citizen, Mr. Aurelie THERIOT, who passed into eternity at 10:10 o'clock, Saturday evening, at the age of 87 years. He was a native of this parish where he spent his entire life in various business activities. Mr. THERIOT always took a prominent part in civic affairs to which he gave much of his time and ability. His passing is deeply regretted by the entire community. Mr. THERIOT was a staunch Democrat. He served as police juror from the Tenth Ward and was president of that body during his service. He was also Chairman of the Parish Democratic Executive Committee about ten years ago and served in office for two terms. Mr. THERIOT was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society. Burial took place in the Catholic Cemetery, following funeral services at the St. Francis de Sales Church, Monday, May 6th at 8:00 am Requiem Mass. Mr. THERIOT, a widower, is survived by four daughters, Mrs. GODARD of Abbeville; Mrs. Edgar TOUPS of Simmsport, Mrs. X. H. ST. MARTIN of Houma, Miss Clothild THERIOT of Houma; and three sons, Honore THERIOT of Bayou Dularge; Clay THERIOT of Morgan City, and Ray THERIOT of Gueydan; and twenty-nine grandchildren.
