File prepared and submitted by Kelby Ouchley. ====================================================================================== Contributor's Note: This cemetery is in a remote area inaccessible during wet conditions except with 4-WD vehicles. It is approximately 100 feet from the Ouachita River. Several other unmarked graves are obvious at the site. The area has reverted to forest, most of the markers are not upright, and this cemetery is in danger of being lost forever. I have always heard that this is a black cemetery. Smith, Collins, and Mitchell are surnames of known Union Parish slaveholders in the region. ====================================================================================== Cemetery Location: Sec. 3, T19N, R3E; North 32 degrees, 39.890’, West 92 degrees, 08.490’ (as determined by GPS) ====================================================================================== MARKED GRAVES Harriet Perkins 1868 May 10, 1928 Age 60 Charlie Perkins Sept. 26, 1894 Oct. 24, 1923 Age 29 Melinda Smith Sept. 4, 1862 Nov. 28, 1955 Mother Viola Mitchell March 4, 1857 May 30, 1957 Rev.
