J. Larkin to preach on Saturday afternoon ++ Brother S. J. Lebanon, Claiborne Parish Louisiana on 6,7,8 October 1843 ++ "Appointed our next Association to be held with the Concord Church, Union Parish, Louisiana, to commence on the Friday before the second Lord's day of October, 1844." ++ "A Table Shewing the State of the Churches." Two Churches from Union Parish: ## Concord Baptist Church, Delegates: S. B. Thomas & C. T. Barton, meets on the second Sunday of each month, Post Office: Farmerville, pledge to association: $3.00, Pastor: S. J. Larkin Memsbership Changes this Year: 3 baptized, 9 received by letter, 7 dismissed, 1 excluded, 1 died Total Current Membership: 29 ## Good Hope Baptist Church, Delegates: No representation (Sickness), meets on the first Sunday of each month, Post Office: Farmerville, (no pledge) ================================================================================== ================================================================================== 1844 - from the Minutes of the Concord Baptist Association, Convened at Concord Baptist Church, Union Parish Louisiana on 11,12, & October 1844 ++ "Friday, Oct. 11, 1844...The delegates from the churches then met in the meeting house, and the regular Moderator and Clerk being absent, Bro. A. S. Mercer, was called to the Chair, and Bro R. H. Burnet, chosen Clerk, pro. tem. Prayer by Bro. W. J. Larkin. ++ "On motion, the following committees were appointed, viz: 1st. To arrange the preaching during the meeting, S. J. Larkin..." ++ "2nd. To arrange the general business... W. J. Larkin,..." ++ "Saturday, October 12, 1844. Met according to adjournment. Prayer by the Moderator... 10th. Appointed Bro. W. J. Larkin, to write a letter of correspondence to the Saline Association, and Brethren Hargis, Baines, Milburn, W. J. Larkin and S. J. Larkin, to bear the same as Messengers." ++ "13th. On motion a petitionary letter from the Zionhill Baptist Church, in Union Parish, La., was read and she being found orderly and orthodox, was cheerfully admitted into this body, and her delegate's names enrolled." ++ "14th. On motion, Bro. W. J. Larkin, was appointed to draft an article on the death of Bro. Hodges, who presided over this association at her last session." ++ "15th. Adopted the following Resolutions" 1st. Resolved. That this associationappoint a committee of five to revise and amend the Constitution, Rules of Decorum, and Abstract of Faith, of this body, and report to the next association, three to form a quorum: Whereupon, Elders W. J. Larkin, S. B. Thomas, S. J. Larkin, W. Milburn and Geo. W. Baines, were appointed said committee..." ++ "16th. Appointed the next session of this body to be held with the Rehoboth Church, in Claiborne Parish, La., to commence on Friday before the second Sabbath, in October, 1845. 17th. Appointed Bro. W. J. Larkin, to preach the next Introductory Sermon, and S. J. Larkin, his alternate." ++ "The association then adjourned, after a very feeling and appropriate address by the Moderator, in peace, harmony and love. On the Sabbath the congregation was very large and attentive. The spirt of the Lord was signally displayed in the comforting and reviving of his saints, and the conviction and conversion of sinners. The meeting continued at the stand until Tuesday morning, at which time thirteen willing converts followed the Saviour into the water, and were baptised into him, that they might walk in newness of life, and shine as lights before the world. The delegates of the several churches, together with all the brethren and sisters that met and worshipped with us there, no doubt returned home rejoicing that they had waited on the Lord for truly their faith was increased, their hopes continued, and they much perfected in love.
