Aaron was born about 1825 in Alabama. In 1860, he farmed in eastern Union Parish. He enlisted as a private in Company E, 19th Louisiana Infantry Regiment in the fall of 1861. The unit went to Camp Moore, in southeastern Louisiana and trained until January. They were then sent north by rail through Jackson Mississippi to the Confederate camp at Corinth to help meet approaching Yankee General U. S. Grant. The unit fought at the Battle of Pittsburg Landing (Shiloh) on 6-7 April 1862. James M. Aaron was present through 23 October 1862, but apparently died while in service shortly after that. ================================================================================== ================================================================================== To the Honorable the Judge of the Eleventh Judicial District Court in and for the Parish of Union, Louisiana. The petition of Sarah Aarons, a resident of said Parish, widow of James Aaron, Deceased, late of said Parish respectfully represents that her late husband’s estate has been administered by the Clerk of your said court, Ex Officio. That she is the mother of the Heirs of said James Aarons to wit: Andrew J. Aarons, Sarah C., Nancy W., Delaware, James, Elizabeth Aarons the issue of the marriage of Petitioner and the said Deceased who are all minors. She represents that she is by law Natural Tutrix to her said children and prays to be appointed and confirmed as such by your Honorable Court and that Saunders Worthington be appointed Under Tutor. She prays that after due proceedings had the funds belonging to herself as widow in community and to her children as heirs of James Aarons may be paid over to her and for such other orders and decrees in the premises as the case may require. Aarons, late of said Parish of Union, deceased has a small Estate and that no one has applied or intends to apply for the Administrator of the same. Now, therefore, it is ordered that Wm. C. Smith, Parish Recorder and Ex Officio Notary Public of said Parish be and he is hereby commanded and authorized to make an Inventory and Appraisement of all the property belonging to the Estate of James M. Aarons, decd. When the following named person became the purchasers. Reid, by virtue of the authority vested in me as above stated do by these presents sell, transfer and deliver unto said purchasers all the said property purchased by them respectively guaranteeing to them all the rights vested in said Estate. Your petitioner James W. Reid, resident of the Parish and State above written with respect herewith presents his final account as Administrator of the Estate of James M. Aarons, Decd. showing the amount of the debts to be four hundred and seventeen dollars and fifty cents ($417.15) and the credits amounting to two hundred and seventy eight cents which leaves the amount of sum of one hundred and thirty nine and 30/100 in his hands due the Estate this amount is now in the hands of the surviving widow of the Deceased who was also partner of said decd. and forced heirs of the Estate. Wherefore he prays that this his final account be advertised according to law and that after all legal delays that the same be allowed, approved and homologated in all its parts and he be relieved from all future responsibility in the premises and for general and equitable relief &c. Reid, Clerk and Ex Officio Administrator of the Estate James M. Aarons, Decd. 1st Vouchers filed 2nd J. W. Reid, Clerk sworn says that he was Clerk of the District Court in December 1866 and that the final account mentioned above was filed December 3rd 1866 and has been advertised for more than thirty days prior to the date by publication in the Union Record, a weekly newspaper published in the town of Farmerville, La. and by posting the same at the door of the court House in said Parish, La. and that no opposition has been filed to the homologation of the same.
