He moved with his parents to Spartanburg District South Carolina in the latter 1790s, and about 1813 or 1814, they moved west to Rutherford County Tennessee. He married Susannah Margaret Bowman there in 1817. About 1822, they moved to Madison County Tennessee, where they lived until 1832. After selling his farm there, Dandridge moved his family across the Mississippi River and settled along Bayou d'Arbonne in what was then known as the Piney Hills country north of Monroe. This area became southern Union Parish Louisiana in 1839. Acree served as one of the earliest police jurors for Union Parish, never missing a meeting even though he lived twenty miles from the courthouse. ================================================================================== ================================================================================== To the Honorable Judge of the Court of Probates in and for the Parish of Union in the State of Louisiana. The Petition of Daniel B. Acre, resident of the Parish of Union in the State of Louisiana with respect represents unto your Honor that his Father Dandridge Acre departed this life in your said Parish and State intestate on the 30th day of July AD 1844 about 20 miles from the Town of Farmerville in your said Parish of Union leaving a considerable Estate consisting of real and personal property situated in your said Parish which was his domicile. Petitioner further represents unto your Honor that his deceased Father Dandridge Acre was married and had seven heirs vis. Sarah Acre about 26 years, Daniel B. Acre about 25, Susan about 21, Mary 20, Sophia 14, James 12, Lucinda bout 10 years of age. Petitioner his son, resident as above set forth. Wherefore Petitioner prays your Honor to cause an Inventory and Appraisement to be made of all the property comprising the Estate of Dandridge Acre Deceased situated in your said Parish or anywhere in the State of Louisiana. Your petitioner prays to your Honor to appoint your petitioner, Administrator upon his giving bond as security in conformity to Law and complying with the legal formalities as the nature of the case may require. Acre State of Louisiana Parish of Union Let the prayer of the within Petitioner be granted and it is further ordered that an inventory and Appraisement be made and that petitioner be appointed Administrator upon his giving bond and taking the oath as the Law required. Done and signed in chambers this 30th day of December AD 1844. John Taylor Parish Judge State of Louisiana Parish of Union Be it remembered that on this 30th day of December AD 1844, that I, John Taylor, Parish Judge and Ex Officio Notary Public in and for said Parish and State having received official information of the death of Dandridge Acre who departed this life at his residence in the parish of Union on the 30th day of July 1844 leaving the following children heirs to wit: Sarah, aged about 26 years; Daniel B., aged about 25 years; Susan aged about 21; Major Heirs and Mary Jane, aged about 20; Sophia Weslenn, aged about 15 years; James, aged about 13 years and Lucinda Acre aged about 11 years, minors besides leaving some real and personal property rights and credits lands and tenements and for the purpose of making an inventory and appraisement of said decedents Estate. I have repaired at my office in the Parish of Union and for the purpose aforesaid. I have appointed William Ham and William Willhite free holders of said Parish appraisers to appraise all the property comprising said decedents Estate and when after being well and truly sworn b me the said Judge well and truly to do and perform al and singular the things and matters herein according to Law proceeded as follows with me the said Judge and undersigned witnesses and parties. Inventory Appraisement Eight acres Lot of land known as the East half of the North East quarter of Section four in Township 19 of Range 2 East containing seventy nine 74/100 acres appraised at $1.25 per acre $100.00 West quarter of the south East quarter and the south East quarter of the south west quarter of section 4 in Township 19 of Range 2 East containing seventy nine 78/100 acres at $1.50 per acre 119.00 1 wagon and harness 80.00 60 head of hogs at $2 per head 120.00 1 bay horse Charley 15.00 1 Sorrel horse 20.00 2 bay colts at $40 each 80.00 1 specked horse 20.00 30 head of cattle more or less $3.50 a head 105.00 100 bush corn more or less 50c 50.00 Farming tools 4.00 Blacksmith tools 20.00 1 grind stone and carpenters tools 7.00 1 large kettle 3.00 1 rifle gun 2.00 1 gin stand 160.00 1 note on M. L. Hindes now due 16.00 1 acpt. On John N. Farmer ___14.38 $931.38 The total amount of the inventory being nine hundred and thirty one dollars and thirty eight cents. In faith whereof the parties appraisers have hereto signed together with Daniel B. Acre who gave in the property and me Judge and undersigned witnesses the date above mentioned. Samuel Montgomery Wm. Farmer, his security of the State of Louisiana are held and firmly bound unto John Taylor, Judge of the court of Probates in and for the Parish of Union or to his successors in Office in the sum of one thousand one hundred and sixty four 22/100 Dollars current money of the United States of America which we promise to pay to him or his successors in office for the faithful performance we bind ourselves and each of us our and each of our heirs Executors, Administrators jointly and severally firmly by these presents renouncing all benefit or derision or discussion whatsoever signed this 30th day of October AD 1844. The condition of the obligation is such that if the above bounden Daniel B. Acre, Administrator of the Estate of the late Dandridge Acre, Deceased does well and truly according to law administer same and further does make and render a true just and faithful account of his acting and doings when whereunto required either by the aforesaid judge or his successors in office agreeable to Law or by the Heirs of the decedent or their lawful attorney or attorneys or by the duly appointed and authorized Executor of the last will and testament of said Deceased should it hereafter appear that any such will or testament of the said Deceased was by him made then this obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and effect.
