Albritton was born in North Carolina about 1822. He was a distant cousin of George W. Albritton who also lived in Union Parish. William R. Albritton moved to Georgia, and in the latter 1850s, he moved to Downsville, in southern Union Parish Louisiana. ================================================================================= ================================================================================= Succession of William R. Albritton, Decd. To the Honorable the Parish Judge in and for the Parish of Union, State of Louisiana. The petition of Zelphia Ann Lee Albritton, a resident of the Parish of union, State of Louisiana with respect represents that she is the surviving spouse of Wm. R. Albritton, Deceased and the mother of the minor children issue of her marriage with said deceased to wit: Joseph Burton Albritton, Holland Elizabeth Albritton, Martha A. Melissa Albritton, Jesse Howell Albritton and John Randall Albritton. Petitioner represents further that she is desirous of being confirmed Natural Tutrix of the above named minor children and for an inventory of all the Estate of said deceased, real and personal, found within the Parish of Union and fair appraisement of the same according to law to be made. Wherefore your petitioner prays that an order for and a commission issue directed to William Smith, Recorder and Ex Officio Notary Public in and for the Parish of Union Authorizing him to make a correct inventory and make an impartially appraisement of the same as directed by law and that your petitioner be confirmed Natural Tutrix of Joseph Benton, Holland Elizabeth, Martha A. Melissa, Jessie Howell and John Randall Albritton, minors above mentioned and that Jerry G. Hicks be appointed and confirmed Under Tutor of said minor children. Smith, Recorder & Ex Officio Notary Public make an inventory and appraisement of all the property belonging to the Estate of W. R. Albritton, Decd. and due return make according to law. Albritton be and she is hereby appointed and confirmed as Natural Tutrix to her minor children heirs of the Estate of W. R. Albritton, Decd. and that J. G. C. Smith, Recorder and Ex Officio Notary Public in and for said parish and State directed authorizing and commanding me to make an Inventory and Appraisement of the property composing the Estate of W. R. Albritton, Decd. late of the Parish of Union, La. and whereas being assisted by J. G. Hicks and E. J. Calk males of lawful age and domicil who being recruited and appointed by me as appraisers repaired to the residence of said deceased and then made a list of all the property of said Estate as pointed out to them and fixing the price and value on each item have this day approved before me and being sworn we proceeded to complete said Inventory and Appraisement as herein after set forth: Tract of land situated in the Parish of Union, La. containing [blank] acres more or less numbered as follows [blank] with the improvements situated thereon apprd. @ $3 per acre [blank] Household and kitchen furniture apprd. @ $300.00 Smokehouse furniture & contents apprd. @ 150.00 2 guns apprd. @ 40.00 3 saddles apprd. @ 15.00 30 head sheep @ $1 per head apprd. @ 30.00 16 head cattle apprd. @ 125.00 Corn fodder & vats apprd @ 200.00 1 wagon and harness apprd. @ 65.00 1 corn sheller apprd. @ 15.00 1 lot farming utensils apprd. @ 65.00 4 stands bees apprd. @ 4.00 2 beef hides apprd. @ 2.50 40 head hogs apprd. @ 40.00 1 wood cane mill apprd. @ 10.00 3 promissory notes on Anderson miles for $55 ea. 165.00 10 bales of cotton apprd. @ 500.00 1 horse apprd. @ 25.00 1 mule apprd. @ 50.00 1 pr. mules apprd. @ 300.00 Thus done and signed in my office in the Town of Farmerville on this the 20th day of March AD 1873 in presence of D. S. Albritton praying that she might be appointed Natural Tutrix to her minor children heirs of the Estate of W. R. Albritton, decd. Now know ye that Zelphia A. S. Albritton has been and she is hereby appointed Natural Tutrix to the said minors and that she has fulfilled all the requisites of the law.
