PET. & ORDER ETC. TO BE APPOINTED NATURAL TUTRIX: Filed 6th day of Sept, A. D. 1906 To the Honorable R. B. Dawkins Judge of the 4th Judicial District court, holding session in and for Union parish La: The petition of Rachell Andrews a resident of your said parish and state represents unto your Honorable court that her late husband Square Andrews departed this life in your said parish on the day of 1904, intestate; That as the issue of the marriage aforesaid thereare ten children, seven of which are minors to wit: Cercy aged 19, Para Lee aged 17, Lula aged 15, Sammie aged 8; That there was a community estate existing between petitioner and her deceased husband consisting of real and personal property; That your petitioner as surviving spouse and mother of said minors is entitled under the law to be confirmed as natural tutrix to said minor; That it is necessary that an invnetory and appraisement of said succession shall be taken and an under-tutor appointed. Wherefore your petitioner prays that an order issue to Thomas L. Holloway Notary Public authorizing him to cause to be made a full and complete inventory and appraisement of all the effects belonging to said succession and due return make to this court. That letters of tutorship issue to your petitioner upon her taking the oath prescribed by law and that Jeff Davis be appointed under-tutor upon taking the legal oath. Prays for all necessary orders and general relief. T. A. Crow Atty. for petitioner. The foregoing petition considered it is ordered thatThomas L. Holloway Notary Public of Union parish La. do same an inventory and appraisement of all the property, rights, and interests belonging to the minors mentioned in the foregoing petition and proper process of same return into the Honorable court; That an abstract be filed as the law requires and after all the formalities required by law have been complied with, that the petitioner and Jeff Davis be appointed and qualified as tutrix and under-tutor respectively upon taking the required oath. Holloway, Notary Public: You are hereby commissioned and commanded to take an inventory and cause an appraisement of the property of the minor heirs of Square Andrews deceased, in the manner prescribed by law; that you appoint as appraisers two discreet persons and due return hereof make to our said court, as the law directs. Be it remembered that on this the 12th day of Sept, A. D. 1906, pursuant to an order issued out of the Honorable Fourth Judicial District court of Louisiana, in and for the said parish of Union, In the matter of the estate of Squire Andrews deceased, at the instance of Rachel A. Andrews applicant to be appointed tutrix bearing date of Sept. the 6ht. A. D. 1906, and to me Thomas L. Holloway, Notary Public, in and for said parish and state, directed, authorizing and commanding me to take an inventory and cause an appraisement to be made of all the property. real and personal, rights and credits, belonging to and composing the estate of Squire Andrews, deceased, situated in Union parish, Louisiana, it being community property existing between the applicant Rachel A. Andrews and her deceased husband Squire Andrews; Now therefore I, Thomas L. Holloway, Notary Public duly qualified and acting for and within the parish of Union and state of Louisiana, and being aided and assisted by J.L. Hopkins and J. A. Gresham two good and lawful male citizens residing in Union parish Louisiana, who after being duly appointed adn sworn by me as appraisers proceeded at my office at Marion in said parish and state, in the presence of F. M. Powell and C.C. Clark two legal witnesses called for the purpose to take said inventory and appraisement as hereinafter stated to wit: REAL PROPERTY: SW¼ of SE¼ of sec. 34, T 23, R 2 East, containing 40 acres, appraised at $ 200:00 Also the E½ of E½ of sec. 34, T 23, R 2 E., containing 160 acres Appraised at $ 600:00 $ 800:00 The last described 160 acres of land was sold by Squire Andrews to Wiley Andrews, this sale in fact was only made to secure a debt that existed between the said parties and when said debt was paid, then Wiley Andrews was to make a deed back to squire Andrews and the said debt has been paid in full. PERSONAL PROPERTY: 3 cows at $ 10:00 $ 30:00 3 calves " 2:50 7:50 6 head of hogs at $ 1:50 9:00 1 mule old 75:00 1 mule 100:00 1 wagon old 10:00 1 lot of farming tools 5:25 1 " " house furniture 92:10 1 " " kitchen " 10:00 $ 338:85 Now therefore I, said Thomas L. Holloway, Notary being aided and assisted as aforesaid, do make the following recapitulation to wit: Total amount of real property brought forward $ 800:00 Total amount of personal property brought forward $ 338:85 Total amount of inventory $ 1138:85 One thousand, one hundred & thirty eight & 85/100 dollars. Having completed the taking of said inventory and appraisement as aforesaid, we this day close this our proces verbal of same. In testimony whereof I have caused said appraisers to sign their names hereto, on this the 12th day of Sept, A. D. 1906, in the presence of the aforesaid witnesses, who also sign with said appraisers and me, said Notary, and I have affixed my seal of office hereto authenticating this inventory. Attest; C. C.
