M. Bazemore died in October 1849 of consumption at the age of 33. He was born in Georgia. The petition of Pauline S. E. Bazemore, a resident of your said parish & State with respect represents unto your honor that her husband Marion M. Bazemore, late of your said Parish departed this life about the 28th day of October 1849 in said parish intestate, leaving your petitioner his wife and Anthonett M. and Josephine A. issue of his marriage with petitioner with considerable estate consisting of lands, slaves & personal property. That is important to said succession that an inventory & appraisement of the property belonging be made according to law and that an administrator be appointed to said estate. That your petitioner is desirous of being appointed to act in said capacity. Wherefore she prays that an inventory and appraisement be made. That your petitioner be appointed administrator and that your petitioner be appointed Natural Tutor to her said minor children and James M. Turner Under Tutor and for all such other & further orders and decrees as the nature of the case may require & for general relief as in duty bound &c. P. S. E. Bazemore Let the prayer of the Petitioner be granted and it is ordered tat an inventory and appraisement of all the property to be found composing the estate & succession of Marion M. Bazemore, decd. be made & that Claborn M. Smith, the Parish Recorder make said Inventory according to law. Done & signed in office on this the 12th day of November AD 1849. Tho. VanHook, Clk. State of Louisiana Parish of Union Be it remembered that an order issued out of the 12th Judicial District Court in and for the said Parish to me directed, that I Claiborn M. Smith, Parish Recorder and Ex Officio Notary Public in and for the said Parish ordering me to make or cause to be made an Inventory appraisement of the property belonging to the Estate of Marion M. Bazemore, decd., late of said parish and for that purpose I have appointed William Ham & George Rositer who on this the 12th day of November AD 1849 after being legally sworn by me the said person proceeded to make the following: 116 acres of land and improvements being In said Parish known as the East half Of the south east quarter of section Three in township twenty, Range 2 east And the Northwest quarter of the South West quarter of Section 2 in same Township containing in all 116 acres $200.00 1 Negro woman Easter & child 650.00 Nelson, a boy 400.00 1 sorrel horse 70.00 1 cow & calf & yearling 27.50 5 sows & pigs 30.00 21 head of hogs @ $2.50 per head 50.00 1 pr. steelyards 1.50 1 set plow gear _____.75 $1429.15 The whole amount of the appraisement fourteen hundred & twenty nine dollars & fifteen cents $1429.15 The above and within inventory appraisement made by Wm. Copely, Judge of the 12th District Court in & for the Parish of Union, Louisiana for the time being and his succession in office in the sum of one thousand eight hundred dollars to the true and final payment thereof we bind ourselves, our heirs & assigns on this the 12th day of November AD 1849. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the said Pauline H. Bazmore has been appointed administrator of Estate & succession of Marion M. Bazemore, deceased. By the Clerk of said Court and hath given bond and hath taken the oath prescribed by law. Now therefore if the said Paulina S. E. Bazemore shall faithfully administer said estate and shall faithfully do and perform all the duties required of her in aforesaid capacity and administrator & shall render a true & faithful account of her acts & doings in and about said estate to the said Judge or his successors in office or to the legal heirs & representatives of said estate when required legally so to do, then the above obligation to be null & void or else to be & remain in full force & effort signed and acknowledged on the date above written.
