The petition of W. W. Bennett, a resident of the Parish of Union, State aforesaid, respectfully represents unto your Honor that he has two minor children Jerome Bennett and Alexander Bennett, the issue of a lawful marriage between himself and Elizabeth Wade, Decd. He represents that there is an inheritance coming to the said minors in the State of Kentucky and that he desires to be appointed and confirmed Guardian to them in order to obtain possession of the same. He represents as father, he is entitled to the guardianship of said children and prays after due proceedings that he may be appointed and confirmed as such and for general relief. W. W. Bennett State of Louisiana 11th District Court Parish of Union The premises considered, it is ordered and decreed that Wm. W. Bennett be and he is hereby appointed Guardian of the minors Jerome Bennett and Alexander Bennett and that upon his giving bond with good security and taking the oath prescribed by law, that letters do issue to him. W. Bennett has been duly and legally appointed and confirmed Guardian to his minor children to wit: Jerome and Alexander Bennett and he has given bond with good security and taken the oath prescribed by law. Now therefore the said Wm. W. Bennett is hereby duly and legally authorized and empowered to do all and singular the acts appertaining to said appointment according to law. Given under my hand and the seal of said court March 21st 1862. James L. Bennett, as his security, are held and firmly bound unto W. B. Egan, Judge of the 11th District Court, Parish of Union, Louisiana or to his successors in office in the just and full sum of thirteen hundred Dollars, the true and faithful payment thereof well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs and assigns firmly by these presents. Dated at Farmerville, March 31st 1862The conditions of the above obligation is such that whereas the said Wm. W. Bennett has been duly and legally appointed and confirmed Guardian to the minors Jerome Bennett and Alexander Bennett and he has taken the oath prescribed by law. Now, therefore is the said William W. Bennett shall faithfully and impartially discharge all and singular the duties incumbent on him as Guardian of the above minors and shall faithfully look after the bodies of said minors and study their interest in all things and shall pay over all sums of money or other property belonging to said minors that he shall or has received in this state or any other state to the proper person or persons to receive the same. Then the above obligation to be null and void, otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue against the principal and his said security.
