Smith, Parish Recorder & Ex Officio Public duly commissioned, sworn & acting as such in and for the said Parish in pursuance of an order of the 12th District Court in and for the said Parish hereto annexed have caused John Taylor, Robert J. McGough, Berry H. Dillard, James D. Taylor to be convoked before me at my office in the Town of Farmerville in said parish a family meeting for the purpose of deliberating upon the matters touching the Tutorship of Nancy Bludsoe, Precilla Bludsoe minor children of Samuel J. Bludsoe, late of the County of Montgomery in state of Alabama and also for the purpose of appointing a suitable person for a Tutor to said minors after administering to them an oath according to law, a copy of which is hereto annexed and having the object of this call & meeting in their capacity fully explained to them by me the said recorder. They doing assisted and [unreadable] by Henry P. Anderson, Under Tutor of said minors proceeded to deliver the following property to wit. We the members of this family meeting after due deliberation as recommended George S. Brown as a suitable person to be appointed as Tutor the said minors Nancy Bludsoe & Precilla Bludsoe by his complying with the law in taking oaths and security separated bond in favor of each of said minors with good & solvent securities in the amount required by law. In testimony many whereof the said members have signed hereto and the said Under Tutor approving hereof in the sight of the subscribing witnesses and me the said Recorder on this the 26th day of November AD 1849. Brown be appointed & incumbent to Nancy Pricilla Bludsoe the minor children of the said Samuel J. Bludsoe, deceased late of Montgomery County, Alabama by taking the oath & entering bond with security according to law. Done & signed in office on this 26th day of November AD 1849. Tho. VanHook, Clk. To the Honorable the Judge of the 12th District court in and for the Parish of Union, Louisiana. The Petition of George J. Brown, a resident of the County of Montgomery in the State of Alabama with respect represents unto your honor that about the [blank] he intermarried with Francis L. Bludsoe, the widow of Samuel J. Bludsoe late of said County & State who at his death he left the following children Nancy & Precilla Bludsoe, the legal heirs of his marriage with Francis L. Bludsoe now the wife of your petitioner the partner with the wife their mother and that your petitioner is making arrangements & intends to remove in a few months to your said parish and State. That is important to said minors that they & their property be removed also. Petitioner further represents that the property of the said minors are in the hands which they [unreadable] from their future estate consist principally of slaves of their guardians to wit. In the said county of Montgomery, Alabama before the said property can be removed to your said Parish, it is necessary that the Tutors be appointed by your Honorable Court to said minors. Wherefore your petitioner prays your Honor to order a family meeting composed of the next relation of said minors if there be any residing in your said Parish if now thereof good & descent citizens of said Parish be convened for the purpose of deliberating upon the matters set up in this petition and to recommend a suitable person or persons to be appointed Tutor to the said minors and that said meeting be convened before Claiborn M. Smith, the Parish Recorder on the day of November AD 1849 and that your Honor appraise and understand to said manners to wit and assist in the deliberation and recommendation of said family meeting and for all other and further orders and decrees as the case may require and for general relief &c. Bludsoe Tutorship The State of Louisiana Parish of Union District Clerk’s Office The Judge of the 12th Judicial district of the State of Louisiana holding court in and for the said Parish of Union being absent from the Parish. Let the prayer of the petition be granted and it is ordered that that a family meeting be convened consisting of John Taylor, Robert P. McGough, Berry P. Dillard, Thomas G. Griffin & Louis P. Taylor, friends & discreet citizens for the purpose of deliberating & recommending a suitable person or persons to be appointed Tutor to the minors Nancy & Precilla Bludsoe, the issue of the marriage between Samuel J. Bludsoe, decd. & Francis L. Bludsoe now the wife of George Brown of Montgomery County, Ala. & that said family meeting be convoked before C. W. Smith the Parish Recorder on the 26th day of November AD 1849 & it is further ordered that Henry P. Anderson be appointed Under Tutor upon taking the Oath prescribed by law. Done & signed in office this the 23rd day of November AD 1849. Tho. VanHook, Clk. I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully & impartially discharge and perform all & singular the duties incumbent on me as Tutor to Nancy & Precilla Bludsoe, minor children of Saml. J. Tho VanHook, Clk. Heirs of Samuel J. Bludsoe Tutorship State of Louisiana Parish of Union 12th District Court Clerk’s Office Whereas Geo. J. Brown, husband appointed Under Tutor to Nancy Bludsoe minor child to Samuel J. Bludsoe, deceased, late of the County of Montgomery, Alabama upon the recommendations of a family meeting duly convoked for that purpose and both taken the oath & given bond & security according to law. Now therefore he is hereby duly empowered and authorized to act in said capacity and to discharge & perform all the acts & duties appertaining to said appointment from my hand & the seal of said Court it being the seal of my office on this the 24th day of November AD 1849. Tho. VanHook Heirs of Samuel J. Bludsoe, Tutorship State of Louisiana Parish of Union 12th District Court Clerk’s Office Know all men by these presents that we George J. Brown as principal & John Taylor his security are held and firmly bound to George W. Copley, Judge of the 12th District Court in and for the Parish of Union, State of Louisiana and the successors in office in the sum of fifteen hundred dollars and to the true & faithful payment thereof we bind ourselves, our heirs and assigns firmly on this the 26th day of Nov AD 1849. The conditions of the above allegation is such that whereas the said George J. Brown has been appointed Tutor to Priscilla minor child of Samuel J. Bludsoe, decd., late of the County of Montgomery, Alabama the issue of his marriage with Francis L. Bludsoe, now the wife of Geo. J. Brown of the county of Montgomery, Alabama by the Clerk of the said Court in and for the said Parish of union upon the recommendation of a family meeting duly convoked for the purpose. Now therefore if the said shall faithfully administer the property & effects of his said ward and shall faithfully discharge all & singular the duties required of him as Tutor of the said according to Law & shall render a true & faithfully account of his acts and doings in and about the same to the said Judge or his successors in office or to the said minor Presilla Bludsoe, her heirs or assigns or legal representatives when legally required so to do then the above obligation is to be null & void or else to be and remain in full force & effect. Bludsoe, Tutorship State of Louisiana Parish of Union Know all men by these presents that we George J. Brown as Principal and John Taylor his security are held and firmly bound unto George w. Copley, Judge of the 12th District Court in & for the Parish of Union, Louisiana for the time being & his successors in office in the sum of fifteen hundred dollars to the true & faithful payment thereof we bind ourselves, our heirs & assigns severally and in solido on this 26th day of Nov AD 1849. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the said George J. Brown has been appointed Tutor to Nancy Bludsoe, minor child the issue of the marriage between Samuel J. Bludsoe, deceased late of Montgomery County, Ala. Francis L. Bludsoe his wife now the wife of George J. Brown the clerk of upon the recommendation of a family meeting duly & signally convoked for the purpose. Now therefore if the said George J. Brown shall faithfully administer the property and effects of his said ward and shall faithfully discharge & perform all & singular the duties required of him by law as Tutor aforesaid and shall remain a true & faithful amount of his Tutorship & of all his acts & doings in & about the said Judge or his successors in office or to the said minor or to her heirs or legal representatives when legally required so to do. Then the above obligation is to be null & void or else to be remain in full force & effect signed & acknowledged & approved before the under signed Clerk of said Court on the day and date above written.
