Partition of the Estate of John F. Burford, Decd. I John Taylor and I Alexander M. Taylor, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully and impartially appraise all the property that may be presented to me belonging to the Estate and succession of John F. Smith Parish Recorders, and Ex-Officio notary public in and for the Parish and State aforesaid duly commissioned and sworn. In pursuance of a Judgment of the 12th Judicial District Court, I proceeded to make an Inventory and appraisement of the Property (Slaves) belonging to the Estate and Succession of John F. Burford, Deceased in order to fix a basis for making a partition of the Slaves belonging to said Estate among the Heirs, John Taylor and Alexander M. Taylor being duly appointed and sworn by me the said Recorder as appraisers proceeded to make the following inventory and appraisement. Smith, Recorder Be it remembered that on this the twenty first day of December AD One Thousand eight hundred and Sixty, I William C. Smith, Recorder and Ex-officio notary public in and for the Parish of Union, Louisiana, duly commissioned and sworn acting in pursuance of a Judgment rendered, by the Hon. the Twelfth Judicial District Court, and for said parish, in the case of Sarah A. Burford & al. vs. Elizabeth Baker and W. S. McGough Tutrix and co Tutor proceeded to the partition of the property of said Estate. Alexander M. Taylor and John Taylor the experts appointed in said Judgment after taking the oath as such, according to law, proceeded, before me to make the partition, and did make the same by dividing the property into five lots as follows, to wit: The amount to be divided as per Inventory taken this day for this purpose as being $22,650.00, say twenty two thousand six hundred and fifty dollars, which being to be divided among five heirs, to wit: Elizabeth Baker, wife of W. S. McGough John F. Burford, minor, represented herein by Jordan G. Taylor as Tutor ad hoc. Sarah A. Burford, wife of William F. Smith William M. Burford, minor, represented by Joseph Baker, Tutor ad hoc Robert B. Burford, minor represented by William C. Baker, wife of W. S. McGough drew out of the had lot No. 1 (one) 2nd Jordan G. Taylor, tutor ad hoc to John F. Burford, minor heir duly appointed and sworn for the purpose, drew No. three (3) 3rd William P. Smith representing his wife Sarah A. Burford drew No. five (5) 4th Joseph Baker tutor ad hoc to the minor William M. Burford duly appointed and sworn drew lot No. four (4) 5th William C. Hall, tutor ad hoc to the minor Robert B. Burford duly appointed and sworn drew for said minor lot No. two(2). The other property being Land and stock, and being community property between the decd. and Elizabeth his wife, the tutrix of said minors remaining undivided in [unreadable} in her possession. The said partition having thus been completed in accordance with the said Judgment of the said court. I the said William C. Smith, Recorder and ex-officio Notary Public aforesaid did cause the said experts and the said tutors ad hoc and the said other parties to sign their names hereto all of them having been present from the beginning of these proceedings and have also signed my name hereto officially in the presence of Henry Regenburg and Harvey Thomas, witnesses on this the day and date aforesaid Witnesses: Elizabeth McGough H. McGough, residents of said Parish, Tutrix and co tutor to the minor heirs of John F. Burford, hereunto respectfully presents the process verbal of the partition made according to law, and in compliance with a Judgment of your Hon. Court rendered in the case of Sarah Burford and al vs. Elizabeth Baker, Tutrix & al No. 1530, and pray that he same may be duly homolgated, and confirmed according to law, and for such other orders and decrees in the premises as may be necessary.
