George N. Cobb, a resident of Union Parish, Louisiana, with respect represents unto your Honorable Court that he was married to his first wife, Mrs. Irene F. Cobb in April A.D. 1870 and of their marriage the following named children were born viz., James A. Cobb, Amanda E. Cobb, Sylvester A. Cobb, Levi B. Cobb, Arthur N. Cobb, Vada E. Cobb, Floyd R. Cobb, And Ira F. Cobb. That all their children are minors except the two first married. He shows that his said wife died at their home in Union Parish in February A.D. 1888. He shows the court that he and his said wife owned certain property in community. Petitioner decrees that an inventory be taken of the property in which said minors own an interest and that your petitioner be appointed tutor to the aforesaid minors and that James A. Cobb be appointed under-tutor to them. Prays for such other orders as are necessary & for general relief. That petitioner believes he can dispose of said land to the interest of the minors, himself and the other owners and he desires that a family meeting be convoked for the purpose of deliberating and advising as to whether the minors interest in said land should be sold & if so, how sold whether at public or private sale and for what price. Murphy, Notary Public in and for the Union parish, LA have this day caused the aforenamed members of this meeting to come before me at my office in the village of Oakland, Union Parish, LA on day and date above stated and after administering to them the oath hereto attached. They proceeded to advise ---- ----- and consult upon the subject matter hereinfore stated and after ------ consultation and deliberation they advise and recommend unanimously that the said minors interests in the land above described by sold by their tutor for cash at private sale for not less that Three Hundred Fifty Dollars. They further recommend that Jas A. Cobb appointment as under tutor to said minors be ratified and confirmed and he be retained as such. They make their recommendations believing it to be to the best interest of said minors that their interest in the above described land be sold as above in order to provide better means for their support and education. They having no other property and that the under tutor join the tutor in making the sale. In testimony in hereof, I have caused said members to sign hereto in the presence of W.C. Murphy and F. Filed October 13th, 1896: To the Hon. Allen Barksdale, Judge of the Third District Court holding session in and for Union Parish, LA. He shows the court that he caused a family meeting to be held in the interest of said minors before George E. Petitioner shows that said family meeting unanimously recommended that your petitioner as tutor should sell said land for the purpose of securing funds for maintenance and education of aforesaid minors. Cobb and your petitioner desires that same be homologated and made the judgment of your Hon Court. Wherefore he prays that the proceedings of the family meeting held before G.E.
