Cook, Union Parish Louisiana Union Parish Louisiana Succession Book E, pp. 320 - 328 ================================================================================== To the Honorable the Judge of the 11th Judicial District Court in and for the parish of Union and State of Louisiana. The petition of Elizabeth N. Cook, a resident of the Parish and State aforesaid, respectfully represents unto your Honor that her husband, Franklin L. Cook, departed this life on the 30th day of June 1861 in said Parish, intestate leaving an estate consisting of real estate, personal property, rights and grants that the said Franklin L. Cook left at his death one child, Elizabeth Cook, a minor and issue of the marriage between your Petitioner and her said husband. That partition of said property was brought into the marriage by petitioner the said husband respectively, and that the balance is community in which your petitioner is partner. The petition considered, your Petitioner prays that her application be advertised according to Law and that after legal delays she be appointed administratrix of the Estate of the said Franklin L. Cook, Decd. and that letters of administration be given to her upon her giving bond and taking the oath required by law. She also prays to be appointed and confirmed natural tutrix to her said child and that John M. Rabun of your said Parish be appointed under tutor to said minor. She further prays that an inventory and appraisement of the property of said Estate be taken by this Recorder of said parish and for such other orders and decrees as the case may require and for general relief &C. Jas. W. Thomas, Atty. State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District Court Parish of Union It is ordered that the application of Elizabeth N. Cook to be appointed administratrix of the Estate of Franklin L. Cook, Decd. and to be approved and appointed natural tutrix to her minor child Elizabeth Cook for be advertised according to law. It is further ordered that William C. Smith, Parish Recorder and Ex-Officio Notary Public in and for said parish and State proceed further to make an inventory and appraisement of the property and personal items belonging to the Estate and that he make due return to this office according to law. District Court Parish of Union The legal advertisement having been made and no opposition filed, let the prayers of Petitioner be granted and it is ordered that Elizabeth N. Cook be and she is hereby appointed administratrix of the Estate of Franklin L. Cook, Decd., late of the said Parish and State. It is further ordered that the said Elizabeth N. Cook be and she is hereby appointed and confirmed Natural Tutrix to her said minor child Elizabeth Cook. It is further ordered that Jno. M. Rabun be appointed under tutor to said minor. Dine and signed in office on this the 2nd day of July AD 1861. Thos. C. Lewis, Clerk State of Louisiana 11th Judicial Dist. Court Parish of Union Know all men by these presents that we Elizabeth N. Cook as principal and Jno. M. and Jno. W. Thomas, as her security are held and firmly bound unto W. B. Egan, Judge of the 11th Judicial District Court in and for the Parish of Union, State of Louisiana or to his successors in office in the just and full sum of Seven thousand eight hundred Dollars to the true and faithful payment thereof we find ourselves our heirs and assigns in solid on this the 20th day of July AD 1961. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the said Elizabeth N. Cook has been duly and legally appointed administratrix of the Estate of Franklin L. Cook, Decd. and she has taken the oath prescribed by law. Now therefore if the said Elizabeth N. Cook shall justly and faithfully discharge and administer said Estate and shall do and perform all the acts in and about said estate and shall render a true and correct account to the Judge of said Court or to the legal heirs of said Estate when required legally so to do in accordance with law then this obligation to be null and void otherwise to be and remain in full force and effect against the principal and her said security. Cook has been duly and legally appointed administratrix of the Estate of Franklin L. Cook, Decd. and she has given bond with good security and has taken the oath prescribed by law. Now, therefore the said Lizzie N. Cook is hereby duly and legally authoriz3ed and empowered to do and perform all acts appertaining to said appointment according to law. Smith, Parish Recorder State of Louisiana Parish of Union Be it remembered that on this the ninth day of July AD One thousand eight hundred and sixty one, in presence of an order of the Honorable 11th Judicial District Court within and for the Parish of Union and State of Louisiana bearing date July 5th 1861 and to me William C. Smith, Parish Recorder and Ex-Officio Notary Public in and for the Parish and State aforesaid directed, I proceeded to make an Inventory and appraisement of all the property rights and credits belonging to the Estate and Succession of Franklin L. Cook, deceased, late a resident of the Parish of Union being assisted by John M. Rabun and Campbell Lassiter, two good and lawful citizens of the Parish of Union, who being duly appointed and sworn by me the said Recorder.
