Besides leaving a considerable Estate of property real and personal, rights and credits, goods and chattels, lands and tenements and for the purpose of making an inventory and appraisement of said decedents Estate, I have repaired to the residence of said Decedents and for the purpose aforesaid, I have appointed Philip May and Thomas Beaty, residents and freeholders of said parish appraisers to appraise all the property comprising said decedents Estate and when after being well and fully sworn by me the said Judge well and truly to do and perform all and singular the matters and things herein according to law have proceeded as follows together with me the said Judge and undersigned witnesses and parties. Inventory Appraisement 160 Acres land @ $2 per acre $320.00 Lucinda, a Negro woman aged about 25 years 500.00 Iser, a Negro girl aged about 18 years 500.00 Alsa, a Negro girl aged about 11 years 300.00 Diley, a Negro girl aged about 9 years 250.00 Rachel, a Negro girl aged about 9 years 200.00 George, a Negro boy aged about 8 years 200.00 Peggy, a Negro girl aged about 7 years 200.00 Bobb a Negro man aged about 20 years 600.00 Frank, a Negro boy aged about 14 years __600.00 Carried forward $3670.00 The two last mentioned Negroes were not present but appraised by Thos. Beaty from his knowledge of the same. Bryan has been appointed Administrator of the Estate of Jessee Cooper deceased and having given bond and security and taken the oath as prescribed by law. Now therefore he is hereby authorized and fully empowered to discharge and perform all and singular the duties appertaining to said appointment according to law. In testimony whereof, I have hereunto signed my name and affixed my seal of office on this 4th day of April AD 1842. John Taylor Judge of Probates To the Honorable the Probate Judge of the Parish of Union and State of Louisiana. The petition of Anna Hosser alias Cooper, a resident of the Parish of Union with respect represents unto your Honor that her husband Jessee Cooper, late of said Parish departed this life on or about the 15the January 1842 leaving your petitioner his widow and the following minor children issue by their marriage to wit: Martha Jane Cooper aged about 15 years. William Dixon Cooper aged about 15 years, Thomas Sterling Cooper aged about 14 years, Livingston Cooper aged about 12 years, and Columbus Marshal Cooper aged about 7 years beside a considerable property, real and personal, whereof your Honor has caused an inventory to be taken and N. M. Bryan to be appointed Administrator to said Estate and that your Honor appoint her Administratrix and that she be qualified as Natural Tutrix of her minor children as aforesaid and that D. P. A. Cook be appointed Under Tutor and for such other and further relief as may be properly necessary as your petitioner prays. Philip May, Atty. State of Louisiana Probate Court Parish of Union Let prayer of the petition be granted and that she be appointed Administratix upon giving Bond and security and taking the oath conditioned as the law directs and qualified as Natural Tutrix and that D. P. a. Cook be appointed Under Tutor of said minors and that letters issue. May the 23rd 1842. John Taylor Parish Judge State of Louisiana Parish of Union I, Anna Cooper as principal and Jetson Green and Thomas VanHook her securities acknowledge to owe and be indebted unto John Taylor, Judge of Probates in and for said parish and his successors in office in the sum of four thousand six hundred and seventy five dollars. To the payment whereof well and truly to be made we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors, administrators and assigns firmly by these presents dated this twenty third day of May AD 1842. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the above bounden Any Cooper has been appointed Administratrix of the Estate of Jessee Cooper, Decd. Now therefore if the said Anny Cooper shall well and truly perform and discharge all and singular the duties incumbent on her in her capacity as aforesaid agreeable to law and to the best of her abilities then and in that case the above obligation to be null and void else to remain in full force and virtue. Bryan a resident of Union Parish and State aforesaid with respect represents unto your Honor that Anna Hosser alias Cooper has been appointed Administratrix of the Estate of Jessee Cooper, late of your aforesaid Parish and Staten and that letters of Administrationship has been granted by your Honor. Now therefore your petitioner prays your Honor to cancel the Bond of your petitioner given for the faithful administration of said property your petitioner further avers that he has obtained a full receipt from said Anna Cooper of the Inventory said Estate therefore your petitioner prays to be released from the Administration of said Estate and for all and further relief that is necessary.
