W. Cranford, born c1822 in Georgia, who lived near Shiloh in 1860 with his wife Narcissa (born c1825 in Alabama). They had several children, including James M. Cranford who served in Company E, 12th Regiment Louisiana Infantry and moved to Panola County Texas after the war. ================================================================================= ================================================================================= To the honorable the Judge of the Eleventh Judicial District Court in and for the Parish of Union, Louisiana. The petition of Georgia Ann Cranford, a resident of said Parish, widow of James Cransford, late of said Parish respectfully represents that her said husband James Cransford departed this life on or about the 2nd day of October AD 1867 leaving her a widow and one minor child the issue of the marriage between her, petitioner and said deceased. Also a number of other heirs from a previous marriage who are all of age. Petitioner represents that said deceased left a small Estate valued at seven hundred and fifty two dollars and that she and her minor child have a legal right in said Estate of one thousand dollars, she having no property in her own right, the major heirs have agreed without any Administrator to surrender to petitioner the whole of said Estate. Petitioner pray that she may be confirmed and appointed Natural Tutrix to her said minor child Lemuel Leonard Cransford and that Archibald W. Harris be appointed Under Tutor and for such other orders and decrees in the premises as may be necessary. H. Regenburg, Atty. State of Louisiana 11th District Court Parish of Union The premises considered, it is hereby ordered that the prayer of Petitioner be granted and that Mrs. Georgia Ann Cransford, petitioner and she is hereby appointed and confirmed as Natural Tutrix to her minor child Lemuel L. Cransford and further that Archer W. Harris be and he is hereby appointed Under Tutor to said minor and upon their taking the oath required, that letters of Tutorship do issue to them. Cransford do solemnly swear that I will faithfully and impartially discharge all the duties incumbent upon me as Natural Tutrix of my following named minor child to wit: Lemuel L.
