The Petition of William H. Culbertson, a resident of said Parish and State respectfully showeth that Lysander T. Culbertson, late of said Parish departed this life at his residence on or about the 10th day of April AD 1868 leaving an Estate consisting of real and personal property and some indebtedness. Also leaving one heir, a minor child, Needham A. Culbertson. Petitioner represents that an administration in the case will be unnecessary, but represents that a Tutor should be appointed to said minor to take charge of his interest. He represents that he is the nearest male relative in the ascending line being the paternal uncle of said minor and pray to be appointed Tutor according to law and that David B. Hughes be appointed under Tutor. He also prays for an Inventory and appraisement according to law, that his bond may be fixed and for such other decrees in the premises as the nature of the case may require. H. Regenburg, Atty. Culbertson be appointed Tutor to the said minor heir of the Estate of L. T. Culbertson, Decd. and further ordered that W. C. Smith, Parish Recorder make an Inventory and Appraisement of all the property belonging to the said minor and due return thereof make to this office as the law directs. Culbertson and being assisted by Austin Martin and Benjamin L. Jones, two good and lawful citizens of the Parish of Union who being duly appointed and sworn by me as appraisers and in presence of two lawful and competent witnesses proceeded to make said Inventory and Appraisement at the residence of L. Culbertson State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District Court Parish of Union Whereas William H. Culbertson has been duly and legally appointed and confirmed as Tutor of the following named minor heirs of the Estate of L. T. Culbertson, Deceased to wit, Needham A. Culbertson and he has taken the oath prescribed by law and given bond with good security. Now therefore, the said William H. Culbertson is hereby duly and legally authorized and empowered to do and perform all the acts appertaining to the said appointment according to law. Given under my hand and seal of office this 23rd day of April AD 1868. J. W. Reid Clerk, District court $3600.00 State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District Court Parish of Union Know all men by these presents that we William H. Culbertson as principal and Henry Regenburg and William C. Smith as his securities are held and firmly bound unto the Honorable J. D. Watkins, judge of the 11th Judicial District Court or to his successors in office in the just and full sum of three thousand six hundred dollars to the true and full payment thereof well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, assigns and legal representatives firmly and in solido by these presents. Dated at Farmerville, La. this 23rd day of April AD 1868. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas we have bounden William H. Culbertson has been duly and legally appointed tutor to the minor Needham A. Culbertson, heir of the Estate of L. T. Culbertson, Decd. and he has taken the oath required by law. Nor therefore if the said William H. Culbertson as principal shall diligently look after the interest of the said minor at all times and shall faithfully and impartially discharge all the duties incumbent on him as Tutor to said minor and shall render to the Judge of the aforesaid court a true and correct account of all his acts and doings in and about said Tutorship and shall whenever legally required so to do pay over all sums of money and deliver all the property that he may have in his hands belonging to the said minor to the proper person or persons to receive the same. Then and in that case this obligation to be null and void. Otherwise, to be and remain in full force and effect against him and his said securities. The petition of William H. Culbertson, Tutor to Needham A. Culbertson, minor heir of Lyander T. Culbertson and also of his mother Alraea [sic] Culbertson both deceased respectively represents that a considerable portion of the property inventory consists of personal property subject to loss, waste and expensive to keep. He therefore prays for an order of sale directing the sale of all the personal property of said minor or so much thereof as may be proper on the terms prescribed by law and for such other orders and decrees in the premises as may be necessary. Culbertson be sold according to law and further that Wm. H.
