Court Parish of Union Succession of J. A. G. Davis Where as I have been informed that J. A. G. Davis last of said parish, decd. has a small estate and that no one has applied or is interested to apply for the administration of the same. And therefore it is ordered that William C. Smith, Parish Recorder and Ex-officio Notary Public of said Parish proceed to make of said inventory to his office April 20th 1860. Thos. C. Smith, Recorder State of Louisiana Parish of Union Be it remembered that on this the [blank] day of April one thousand eight hundred and sixty, in presence of an order of the 12th Judicial District Court in and for the Parish of Union, State aforesaid. I, William C. Smith, Parish Recorder and Ex-Officio Notary Public in and for said Parish together with James C. Dawson and Nathan Bethetor who being duly appointed by me as appraisers proceeded to make an inventory and appraisement of all the property belonging to the Estate and succession of John A. G. Davis, decd. late a resident of the parish. Said appraisers being first duly sworn by me the said Recorder, we proceeded to make the following inventory and appraisement as follows, to wit: 1 waggon apprd. @ $50.00 1 yoke of oxen apprd. @ 40.00 1 double B. shot gun apprd. @ 10.00 1 rifle apprd. @ 2.50 1 silver watch apprd. @ 5.00 2 old trunks apprd. @ 1.00 1 lot tools, 2 hand saws, 1 iron square, 1 jack plain, 4 augers, 4 chisels, 1 chip ax, 1 spreading tool, 1 pair steel [unreadable], 1 branding knife, 1 grind stone, 1 shaket[?], 1 key filesaw, apprd. @ 8.00 1 bushel meal, apprd. @ 1.00 1 paint box apprd. @ .25 1 pot, 1 skillet & lid, 1 tea kettle apprd. @ 2.00 1 frying pan, 7 dinner plates, 1 set cuts apprd. @ .75 1 set kninves & forks & butcher knife apprd. @ 1.00 1 wash pan, milk pan, transfer bottle apprd. @ .75 1 iron wedge, 1 stem jar, 1 jar & lid, 1 seive 1.90 1 broom, 1 piece bacon, coffee & salt 1.50 1 lot soap, 1 pr. The testimony whereof said appraisers have hereunto signed their names with me the said Recorder and in the presence of Francis Sherar[?] and Acy Duly, witnesses of lawful age and domicilated in said Parish who have hereto signed their names also the day and date above written. Smith, Recorder To the honorable the Judge of the 12th Judicial District Court in and for the parish of Union, State of Louisiana The petition of Thomas C. Lewis, resident of the said parish and State respectfully represents that he is Ex-officio Administrator of the Estate of John A. G. Davis, decd. and the personal property belonging to said Estate should be sold in order to settle the debts of the same. He prays that an order may issue directing the sale of said property as follows: For all sums of five dollars and above on a credit until the first of January AD 1861. Purchasers to be required to give their notes with approved security bearing eight per cent Interest from day of sale. All sums under five Dollars, Cash. He also prays for such other orders and decrees as may be necessary and for general relief &C. Thos. C. Lewis State of Louisiana 12th Judl. Dist. Court Parish of Union Let the prayer of petitioner be granted and it is ordered that the personal property belonging to the Estate of John A. G. Davis be sold to satisfy the debts of the same on the following term, to wit. On a credit until the first day of January 1861, for all sums of Five dollars and above purchasers giving their note with approved security bearing Eight per cent Interest from day of sale. For all sums under five dollars, Cash. Done and signed in office on this the 11th day of June AD 1860. Thos. C. Lewis, Clerk State of Louisiana Parish of Union Pursuant to an order of the 12th Judicial District Court in and for the Parish and State above written, on the day the sale of the personal property belonging to the Estate of John A. G. Davis, Decd. at Public auction payable on the first day of Jany. 1861 with 8 per cent interest from date. All sums of five dollars and over purchaser giving their notes with the approved Security and drawing 8 percent Interest from day of sale. All sums under five dollars. Cash. And the said sale having been advertised according to Law, now therefore, I, Thomas C. Lewis, Admr. of the said Estate having this the 24th day of June AD 1860 in accordance with the above administrator did [unreadable] the legal heirs of sale offer at public Auction the following persons who respectively being the highest and last bidders became purchasers of the same as follows, to wit &C: S. C. Lewis aforesaid by virtue of the authority vested in me as administrator aforesaid to hereby sell transfer assign and deliver to each of the aforesaid purchasers respectively , the property purchased each as herein before set forth. In testimony whereof, I have hereto signed my name officially on this the 27th day of February AD 1860, in the presence of Wesley W. Guthrie and James L. Davis, Deceased Homolgation of the final account filed by Thos. C. Lewis, Administrator of said succession. 1st voucher filed with the final account 2nd Jas. L. Guthrie, Clerk of the District Court sworn says that the final accounts as filed on the 2nd day of October 1861 and he has being legally administered in the following succession by posting a copy of the advertisement at the Court House door in the town of Farmerville and by advertising in a paper published in the town of Farmerville, The Coming South, for more than thirty days, that there has been no opposition filed to the Homolgation of said final account up to the final date. State of Louisiana 11th District Court Parish of Union I do hereby certify that the above is all the evidence adduced on the homolgation of the final account of the Estate of J. A. G. Davis, Decd. Davis, Decd. late of Union Parish, respectfully herewith files the final account of his acts and doings as administrator of the said Estate of J. A. G. Davis, Decd. He further prays for judgments against the Estate of J. A. G. Davis, Decd. for the sum of twenty six and 23/100 dollars the amount due Thos. C. Lewis by the admr. accounts and for general relief &C. Thos. C. Lewis, Admr. State of Louisiana 11th Judicial Dist. Court Parish of Union By reason of the law and the consideration in this [unreadable] in favor of Petitioner and by further reason of the proper advertisement having been made and no opposition filed in my office, it is ordered adjudged and decreed that the within and foregoing final account of Thos. C. Lewis as administrator of the Estate of J. A. G. Davis, Decd. be homolgated and approved in all its parts according to law. It is further ordered that there be judgement in favor of Thos. C. Lewis and [unreadable] the said succession of J. A. G. Davis, Decd. for the sum of twenty six & 23/100 dollars with interest at the rate of 5 percent per annum from this date.
