Davis, Decd., Union Parish Louisiana Union Parish Louisiana Succession Book F, pp. 180 - 184 Union Parish Louisiana Succession Book F, pp. 494 - 495 ================================================================================== ================================================================================== Note: Thomas L. Davis served as a private in Company I, 31st Regiment Louisiana Infantry. He enlisted with his company at Monroe on 16 March 1862, and was present for duty through the regiment's capture at Vicksburg on 4 July 1863. There is no further military record for him. There was a T. L. Davis from Union Parish who served in Company A, 6th Regiment Louisiana Infantry, a unit that fought with Stonewall Jackson and Robert E. Lee in Virginia. However, this T. L. Davis was alive in November 1863, after Thomas L. Davis had died. Thus, in all likelihood, the Thomas L. Davis whose estate records are given here was the soldier in the 31st Regiment. He was paroled in July 1863, probably in poor health after the circumstances at Vicksburg, and he died on 20 August 1863. ================================================================================== ================================================================================== ================================================================================= ================================================================================= Union Parish Louisiana Succession Book F, pp. 180 - 184 ================================================================================== ================================================================================== To the Honorable the Judge of the 11th Judicial District Court in and for the parish of Union, State of Louisiana.
