Union Parish Louisiana Succession Book E, pp. 1 - 4 ================================================================================== To the Honorable the Judge of the twelfth Judicial District Court in the Parish of Union, Louisiana. The petition of Nancy Edmonds & William J. Edmonds, both residents of your said Parish and State. Respectfully represents unto your honour that they are testamentary Executors of the last will and testament of Rosco E dmonds decd. Duly appointed by said will and confirmed by the probate or County court of Spaulding Co., in the state of Georgia and duly sworn as such. No bond being required by the law of Georgia in cases as this. That they have taken possession of the said Estate and administered the same in said State of Georgia for some time and finally with due authority from the Courts of the State of Georgia, removed the property of the said Estate from there to the State of Louisiana where the same now is in your said parish of Union. Petitioners pray that they may be recognized as executors of the last will of Rosco Edmonds, that an inventory and appraisement may be had according to law. For Evidence and reference, they file herewith a transcript of the proceedings had in the County Court of Spaulding Co., Georgia, containing the will, Appointment Acts of Administration duly certified according to law by the said Court. Petitioners further pray for such other orders and decrees as may be necessary in the premises and for general relief. H. Regenburg, Atty. State of Louisiana 12th Judl. Disct. Court Parish of Union The petition above duly considered it is ordered that Nancy Edmonds be appointed and recognized as Executrix and William J. Edmonds as Executor, of the Estate of Rosco Edmonds and they take the oath prescribed by law, no bond being required. It is further ordered that an Inventory and Appraisement be had according to Law, that W. C. Smith, Recorder, be appointed to make the same. Done & Signed in Open Court this March 10th 1860. Thos. C. Heard Sworn to and subscribed before me on this the [blank] day of April A.D. 1860 State of Louisiana Parish of Union Be it remembered that on this the third day of April A.D. one thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty in pursuance of an order of the 12th Judicial District Court in and for said Parish and to me William C. Smith, Parish Recorder & Ex Officio Notary Public in and for said Parish directed commanding & authorizing me to make an Inventory and appraisement of all the property belonging to the Estate and Succession of Rosco Edmonds, decd. Situated in this Parish, I repaired to the residence of Mrs. Nancy Edmonds in this the Parish of Union for the purpose of making same Inventory and whereas and good and lawful citizens of this Parish being duly appointed and sworn by me the said recorder as appraisers and in the presence of Lawful and competent witnesses. We proceeded to make the following Inventory and appraisement as here after set forth viz. "Charlott" a Negro woman aged 38 years of dark complection, appraised $1,000.00 "Milly" a Negro woman aged 28 years of dark complection and her three children viz. According to the best of any ability and understanding. So help me God. Wm. J. Edmonds Sworn to and subscribed before me on this the 10th day of March A.D. 1860. Thos. H. Edmunds has been duly & legally appointed and recognized Testamentary Executor of the Estate of Rosco Edmunds Decd. And he has taken the oath prescribed by Law. No bond being required. Now therefore the said Wm. J. Edmonds is hereby duly and legally authorized and empowered to do and perform all acts appertaining to said apportments according to Law. Now therefore the said Nancy Edmonds is hereby duly and legally authorized and empowered to do and perform all acts appertaining to said appointment according to Law.
