Glaze, late of Union Parish, deceased has left a small estate consisting of land, stock, household and kitchen furniture &c also one minor child Abner J. Glaze [sic] and that no one has applied or intends to apply for the administration of said Estate. Now therefore it is ordered and decreed that William C. Smith, Parish Recorder and Ex Officio Notary Public be and he is hereby authorized to make an Inventory and appraisement of all the property belonging to the said Estate of Abner J. Glaze, Decd. and due return thereof make to this office. Done and signed in office this 2nd day of October AD 1866. J. W. Glaze, Decd. late of the Parish of Union and being assisted by Henry Archer and James T. Ham of the Parish and State above written respectfully represents that she is the mother and was the Natural Tutrix of William Judson Glaze, the issue of a former marriage between herself and Abner J. Glaze, Decd. that she lost the right of Natural Tutorship by marrying without first having caused a family meeting to be convoked for the purpose of consulting and advising with regard to being continued in said office and that there is a necessity of there being a tutor appointed to represent the said minor. Wherefore she prays that a family meeting be convoked before E. M. Graham, a justice of the Peace for said parish consisting of Isaac C. Mayes, a relation of said minor and Thos. J. Seale friends of said minor and that in accordance with the advise and recommendation of said family meeting, a Tutor be appointed to represent said minor and for all orders and decrees necessary in the premises and for general relief &c. State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District court Parish of Union Let the prayer of petitioner be granted and it is hereby ordered and decreed that a family meeting be convoked before E. M. Graham, Justice of the Peace consisting of Isaac C. Mayes & [blank] & [blank] relations and friends of the minor William J. Glaze to consult up with duties of recommending the appointment of a Tutor or Tutrix to the said minor and that he make due return to this office. Done and signed in office this November 27th 1866. Reid, Clerk District Court State of Louisiana Parish of Union In pursuance with a commission directed to me by the Honorable District court in and for the Parish of Union, State of Louisiana to convoke a family meeting of the relations and friends of the minor William J. Glaze to consult upon the interest of said minor and for the purpose of recommending the appointment of a Tutor or Tutrix to the said minor. I have this day caused said meeting composed of the following members to wit: Isaac C. Mayes, Jonathan Glaze, Jesse A. Mayes, James T. Mayes, and Thomas Seale who after taking an oath before me to consult with each other and to give their advise according to their best knowledge touching the interest of the minor William J. Glaze and to recommend the appointment of a Tutor or Tutrix to said minor have recommended as follows. We have agreed after due consultation that it will be to the best interest of the minor William J. Glaze that his mother Nohoma C. Ham be appointed Tutrix and Isaac C. Mayes Under Tutor. M. Graham Justice of peace State of Louisiana 11th District Court Parish of Union The premises considered it is hereby ordered and decreed that Mrs. Naomi C. Ham be and she is hereby duly and legally appointed Tutrix to the minor child William J. Glaze and her husband is appointed Co-Tutor with here and further that Isaac C. Mayes is hereby appointed Under Tutor to the said minor. Done and signed in office this 10th day of December AD 1866. J. W. Glaze, Decd. by Authority vested in me by law, did process on the 31st day of December AD 1866 to offer for sale to the last and highest bidder all the personal property belonging to the said Estate of same ever having been first advertised according to law. Where after crying the same for a sufficient length of time the following person became the purchasers. They being the last and highest bidders to wit: Mrs. N. C. Reid, Clerk of the District Court in and for said Parish and by virtue of my office Ex Officio Administrator of the Estate of Abner J. Glaze, Deceased, I proceeded to the late residence of the said deceased on Monday the 9th day of December AD 1867 after having advertised the same for more than thirty days as the law directs to sell the following described property to wit. A certain tract or parcel of land known as the late residence of the said Decd. with all the improvements thereon, numbered as follows, the North West ¼ of North East ¼ and the North East ¼ of North West ¼ of Section thirty one, Township Twenty Range one East containing eighty and 12/100 acres being and lying in Union Parish, La. When after reading the advertisement and certificate of Mortgage, I proceeded to cry the same in an audible voice for a sufficient length of time when Ebenezer Miles became the purchaser for the sum of Two hundred and seven dollars, he being the last and highest bidder and he having complied with the terms of sale by giving his note for said sum with Anderson Miles, Thos. P. Ransom and Wm. R. Albritton as his securities. I hereby sell, transfer and adjudicate unto the said Ebenezer Miles the said tract of land retaining a special mortgage and vendor’s privilege on the said land to secure the same. This done and signed on the Eleventh day of December AD 1867 in presence of Moses S. Carson and Joseph Pipes competent witnesses who resides in said Parish. ATTEST: M. S. Carson J. W.
