She married Hiram Davis Goyne, Sr. on 28 September 1837 in Houston County Georgia as Goyne's second wife. He had a large family of children from his first wife, Mary (Polly) Allen, to whom he had married in 1818. Goyne moved from Taliaferro (previously Warren) to Houston County Georgia about 1835 or 1836. In about 1848, he moved his family from drought-stricken Georgia to Union Parish Louisiana, settling on the north side of Farmerville. After his death in 1852, the widowed Susan Lupo Goyne remarried to William R. Davis. Henry B. T. Goyne mentioned in the records below as the administrator of Susan Davis was her step-son. ================================================================================== To the Honorable the Judge of the 11th Judicial District Court in and for the Parish of Union, State of Louisiana. The petition of Henry B. Goyin, a resident of said Parish respectfully represents that Susan Davis, wife of William Davis now duly late of said Parish, departed this life on or about the 25th December 1864, leaving and estate consisting of real and personal property and also four heirs to wit: Sophy Goyin, widow of Frank McAdams, Victory Goyin, widow of Robert Dildy, Marion Goyin, a minor and James Goyin also a minor, all the issue of a previous marriage of said Susan, Decd. with hiram D. Goyin, Decd. and represented by William Goyin their Tutor. Petitioner represents that he is the half brother of the said heirs and that their tutor is about from home in the service of the Confederate States and prays that an inventory and appraisement may be had and that he be appointed Administrator for said estate and for such other orders in the premises may be necessary. H. Regenburg, Atty. State of Louisiana 11th District Court Parish of Union It is hereby ordered and decreed that the within application of Henry B. Goyin to be appointed Administrator of the estate of Susan Davis, Decd. be advertised according to law. It is further ordered that W. C. Smith, Parish Recorder &c be and he is hereby authorized to make and inventory to the said Estate of Susan Davis, Decd. and due return thereof make to this office. Done and signed in office on this the 4th day of January AD 1865. Thos. C. Lewis, Clerk, District Court State of Louisiana 11th District court Parish of Union The premises considered and by reason of the proper advertisement having been made and no opposition being filed thereto, it is ordered and decreed that Henry B. T. Goyne be and he is hereby appointed and confirmed as Administrator of the estate of Susan Davis, Decd. and upon his giving bond with good security and taking the oath prescribed by law that letters do issue to him. Bryan, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully and impartially appraise all the property that may be paointed to me belonging to the estate of Susan Davis, Decd. at its cash value to the best of my Judgement. State of Louisiana Parish of Union Be it remembered that on this the Twelfth day of January AD 1865, pursuant to an order of the 11th Judicial Court in and for the Parish of Union, La. being date January 4th 1865 and being assisted by Drewry B. White and Benjamin A. Bryan who being duly appointed and sworn by me as appraisers proceeded to make an inventory and appraisement of the property belonging to the Estate of Susan Davis, Decd. late of this Parish. The property being pointed out by Henry B. T. Goyne as follows to wit: 120 acres land situated in the Parish of Union with the improvements thereon apprd. @ $1.50 per acre $180.00 One feather bed stead and foundation apprd. @ 30.00 3 common chairs & 1 table apprd. @ 5.00 1 lot of pots and stone ware apprd. @ 10.00 1 old wagon apprd. @ 15.00 1 lot of old ploughs, 1 grind stone @ ___10.00 Total amount of inventory $250.00 Having completed the within inventory, I have closed the same in testimony whereof I have caused said appraisers to sign their names hereto in the presence of Thos. Goyin do solemnly swear that I will faithfully and impartially discharge all the duties incumbent on me as Administrator of the estate of Susan Davis, Decd. according to the best of my ability and understanding. State of Louisiana 11th District court Parish of Union Whereas Henry B. T. Goyin has been duly and legally appointed and confirmed as Administrator of the Estate of Susan Davis, Decd. and he has given bond with good security and has taken the oath prescribed by law. Now therefore the said Henry B. T. Goyin is hereby duly and legally authorized and empowered to do and perform all the acts appertaining to said appointment according to law. Given under my hand and seal of office on this 7th day of April 1865. Thos. C. Lewis, Clerk State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District Court Parish of Union Know all men by these presents that we Henry B. T. Goyin as principal and William C. Smith as his security are held and firmly bound unto W. B. Egan, Judge of said court in and for the Parish and State aforesaid or to his successors in office in the full and just sum of Three Hundred and fifteen $315.00 dollars to the true and faithful payment whereof well and truly to be made. We bind ourselves, our heirs, assigns, and legal representatives firmly by these presents. Dated at Farmerville, La. this 7th day of April AD 1865. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the above bounden Henry B. T. Goyin has been appointed Administrator of the Estate of Susan Davis, Decd. and he has taken the oath prescribed by law. Now, therefore if the said Henry B. T. Goyin shall faithfully and impartially discharge all and singular the duties incumbent on him in his said capacity and shall faithfully account to the Judge of said court for all moneys or other property belonging to said Estate received from this or any other state and shall make due and from to return of all her acts and doings in and about said Administration. Then and in that case the above obligation to be null and void. Otherwise to remain in full force and effect against the principal and his said security. Smith To the Honorable the Judge of the 11th Judicial District Court in and for the Parish of Union, State of Louisiana. The petition of H. B. T. Goyne, a resident of your Parish and Administrator of the Estate of Susan Davis, late of same resident respectfully represents the personal property belonging to said Estate is reportedly wasting and if not sold or disposed of will soon be scattered and wasted. Wherefore petitioner prays your honor for an order from your honorable court authorizing the said Administrator to sell after due advertisement all the personal property belonging to said Estate for cash and for all other orders and decrees necessary in the premises and for general relief. State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District Court Parish of Union It is ordered and decreed that the prayers of the above petition be granted and that all the personal property belonging to the Estate of Susan A. Davis, Decd. be sold in accordance with Articles 990 & 991 of the Code of Practice. It is further ordered that H. B. T. Goyne, the Administrator of said Estate be and he is hereby authorized to make said sale and due return thereof make according to law.
