The petition of John M. Gully, a resident of the aforesaid Parish respectfully represents unto your Honorable Court that sometime in the Month of September AD 1865 William H. Gully, father of petitioner and late of same residence, departed this life intestate leaving a small estate and several heirs, a portion of whom are minors. Petitioner represents that there has been no administrator yet appointed to represent and settle the Estate of his said father deceased and that an Administration is necessary. That petitioner being one of the heirs and a creditor of the Estate proposes to Administrator wherefore petitioner prays your honor that W. C. Smith, Parish Recorder and Ex Officio Notary Public be ordered to make an Inventory of the effects of said Estate and after due advertisements and all other legal delays petitioner be appointed Administrator of said Estate and for all other orders and decrees necessary in the premises and for general relief. R. W. Futch State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District Court Parish of Union It is ordered and decreed that the within application of John M. Gully to be appointed Administrator of the Estate of William H. Gully, Decd. be advertised according to law. It is further ordered and decreed that William C. Smith, parish Recorder &c be and he is hereby authorized to make an Inventory and Appraisement of all the property belonging to the said Estate and due return thereof make to this office according to law. Lewis State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District Court Parish of Union The premises considered and by reason of the proper advertisements having been made and no opposition being filed thereto, it is ordered and decreed that John M. Gully be and he is hereby appointed and confirmed as Administration of the said Estate of William H. Gully, Decd. and that upon his giving bond with good security and taking the oath prescribed by law that letters of administration do issue to him. Smith, Recorder State of Louisiana Parish of Union Be it remembered that on this the 24th day of March AD One thousand eight hundred and sixty six pursuant to an order issued from the Honorable 11th Judicial District Court in and for the Parish of Union and State of Louisiana and to me William C. Smith, Parish Recorder & Ex Officio Notary Public in and for said Parish directed commanding me to make an inventory and appraisement of the property, rights and credits belonging to the Estate and succession of William H. Gully, deceased, late of the Parish of Union and whereas being assisted by Henry P. Anderson and Lemuel Doty, male citizens of the Parish of Union of lawful age who being duly sworn and appointed by me as appraisers and in the presence of two lawful, competent witnesses, proceeded to make said inventory and Appraisement as hereinafter set forth, to wit: 1st a tract of land situated in the Parish of Union, La. numbered as follows: the north east quarter of the south west quarter of section 36 in Township 21 North of range No. one east containing 39 25/100 acres as per patents No. 11587 US Land Office, and the Southy west quarter of the South west quarter of Sec. 25, then North west quarter of the North east quarter and the North east quarter of the North west quarter of Section 36 in Township 21 north of Range one east containing 157 53/100 acres as per Patent No. 64285 U. S. Land Office containing in all 196 78/100 acres with the improvements situated thereon apprd. @ $2 per acres $393.56 1 single barrel shot gun apprd. @ ___5.00 $398.56 Having completed the foregoing Inventory and Appraisement, I have on this the [blank] day of March 1866 closed the same, in testimony whereof, I have caused said appraisers to sign their names hereto in presence of D. Gully do solemnly swear that I will faithfully and impartially discharge all and singular the duties incumbent on me as Administrator of the Estate of Wm. H. Gully, Decd according to the best of my ability and understanding. So help me God. John M. Gully Sworn to and subscribed before me this 24th day of March AD 1866. Thos. C. Lewis, Clerk, District Court Succession of William H. Gully, Decd. State of Louisiana 11th Judicial District Court Parish of Union Whereas John M. Gully has been duly and legally appointed Administrator of the Estate of William H. Gully, Decd. and has given bond with good security and has taken the oath prescribed by law. Now therefore, the said John M. gully is hereby duly and legally authorized and empowered to do and perform all the acts appertaining to the said appointment according to law. Given under my hand and seal of office this 24th day of March AD 1866. Thos. C. Lewis Clerk, District Court State of Louisiana Parish of Union Know all men by these presents that we John M. Gully as principal and Henry P. Anderson as his security are held and firmly bound unto Honorable J. D. Watkins, Judge of the 11th Judicial District Court for the time being or to his successors in office in the just and full sum of five hundred $500.00 Dollars to the true and faithful payment whereof will and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, assigns and legal representatives firmly by these presents. Dated at Farmerville, La. this 24th day of March AD 1866. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the said John M. Gully has been duly and legally appointed Administrator of the Estate of William H. Gully, Decd. and he has taken the oath prescribed by law. Now, therefore, if the said John M. Gully shall faithfully and impartially discharge the duties incumbent on him as Administrator of the said Estate and shall render to the Judge of said Court a true and correct account of all his acts and doings in and about said Estate and shall faithfully account for all sums of money and other property received by him belonging to said Estate and shall whenever legally required so to do pay over all sums of money and deliver all the property of whatever belonging to said Estate to the proper person or persons to receive the same, then this obligation to be null and void. Otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue against the principal and his said securities. Done, signed and acknowledged before this the day and date above written. Thos. C. Lewis John M.
