Jesse was born about 1804 and Rosanna about 1809, both in North Carolina. Their nine children were all born in Alabama between 1838 and 1854. Their son Jesse W. Harrell who petitioned the Union Parish court below was born about 1844. They moved to Union Parish sometime between 1860 and 1867. ================================================================================= ================================================================================= Estate of Jesse Harrell, Decd. To the Honorable the Judge of the 11th Judicial District Court in and for the Parish of Union, State of Louisiana. The petition of Jesse W. Harrell, a resident of the Parish and State above written with respect represents that his father Jesse Harrell departed this life at his residence in said Parish sometime in the month of August 1867 in testate leaving Rosanna Harrell his surviving spouse and partner in community and several heirs to his Estate viz.: J. P. Harrell, H. C. Harrell, Phoebe E. Harrell, J. W. Harrell, Lewis J. Harrell, Emily E. Harrell and Francis M. Harrell the three last mentioned being minors, also leaving a small estate consisting of real and personal property, rights and credits. Petitioner represents that an Administration is necessary and that it is the desire of all parties interested that he should administer said Estate. Wherefore, he prays that this his application should be advertised according to law and that W. C. Smith, Parish Recorder and Ex Officio Notary Public be ordered to make an Inventory and Appraisement of all the property belonging to the said Estate and after all legal delays that he be appointed Administrator of the Estate of said Jesse Harrell and for all necessary orders and decrees in the premises and for general relief. Harrell to be appointed Administrator of the Estate of Jesse Harrell, Decd. be advertised according to Law. And, it is further ordered that W. C. Smith, Recorder &c be and he is hereby authorized to make an Inventory and Appraisement of all the property belonging to said Estate and due return make thereof to this office according to law. Reid Clerk, District Court State of Louisiana 11th District Court Parish of Union The premises considered and by reason of the proper and legal advertisement having been made and no opposition having been made and no opposition filed thereto, it is ordered and decreed that the prayer of Petitioner be granted and that Jesse W. Harrell be and he is hereby appointed Administrator of the Estate of Jesse Harrell, Decd. and upon his taking the oath required by law and giving bond with good and solvent securities conditioned according to Law, that letters of Administration do issue to him. Head and J. A. Harrell, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully and impartially discharge all the duties incumbent on me as Administrator of the Estate of Jesse Harrell, Deceased according to the best of my ability and understanding. Harrell has been duly and legally appointed Administrator of the Estate of Jesse Harrell, Deceased and he has given bond with good security, and has taken the oath prescribed by law. Now, therefore, the said Jesse W. Harrell is hereby duly and legally authorized and empowered to do and perform all the acts appertaining to said appointment according to law. Head and Abraham C. Harrell as securities are held and firmly bound unto the Honorable J. P. Watkins, Judge of the Eleventh Judicial District Court in and for Union Parish for the time being or to his successors in office in the just and full sum of Fourth hundred and fifty dollars to the true and full payment thereof, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors, administrators and legal representatives firmly and in solido by these presents. Dated at Farmerville, La. this 28th day of November AD 1867. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the said Jesse W. Harrell has been duly and legally appointed and confirmed as Administrator of the Estate of Jesse Harrell, Deceased and he has taken the oath required by law. Now therefore if the said Jesse W. Harrell shall faithfully and impartially discharge all the duties incumbent on him as Administrator of the said Estate asked shall render to the Judge of a true and correct account of all his acts and doings in and about said Estate and shall when legally required so to do pay over all sums of money, and deliver all the property of the said Estate to the proper person or heirs or to receive the same, then this obligation to be null and void. The petition of Jesse W. Harrell, a resident of the Parish and State above written with respect represents that he was appointed and confirmed by your Honorable Court as Administrator of the Estate of Jesse W. Harrell, Decd., that he has Administered the said Estate and herewith files his final account which he prays may be advertised according to law and after all legal delays, that the same may be homologated and his bond as Administrator be cancelled and he be released from all further responsibility in the premises. Harrell, Admr. of the Estate of Jesse Harrell, Decd. 1st Vouchers filed with said account 2nd J. W. Reid, Clerk District Court says he was the acting Clerk of said Court in May last that said Account was filed in the clerk’s office on the 5th day of May AD 1868 and has been advertised for more than thirty days prior to this date by publication in the weekly newspaper published in said Parish called the Union Record and by posting at the door of the Court House in the Town of Farmerville said Parish and that no opposition has been filed in the homologation of the same. Harrell, Admr. of the Estate of Jesse Harrell, Decd. be and the same is hereby allowed, approved and homologated in all its parts according to law.
