To the Honorable the Judge of the 12th Judicial District Court in & for the parish of Union, Louisiana. The Petition of Jeremiah Ratliff and heir of Benjamin Harrison, deceased with respect represents unto your honor that Benjamin Harrison late of said Parish departed this life some time in the month of April 1847 leaving your petitioner his widow and several children the issue of the marriage between your petitioner and the said Benjamin Harrison, Jeminia Ann Harrison, now the wife of Josiah Traylor and William Allen & Sarah Harrison, minor children his heirs at law. Your petitioner further represents that the said Benjamin Harrison died [unreadable] of certain property in the Parish of Union consisting of land, slaves &c. Your petitioner also represents that she is desirous of obtaining the administration of the estate of her deceased husband and the Tutorship of the said minor children to wit: William Allen and Sarah Harrison. Wherefore she prays that an Inventory & appraisement of the property composing the Estate of Benjamin Harrison, deceased be made according to law, that she be appointed administrator thereof and that she be appointed & confirmed as Natural Tutrix of the said minors that Liberty K. Thomas be appointed Under Tutor of the said minors upon taking the oath required by law. Done on this 19th day of July 1847. Tho. VanHook 12th Dist. Court Liberty K. Thomas not having taken the oath nor complied with the requisites prescribed by law, it is ordered that Wiley Underwood of said Parish be appointed Under Tutor to the said minors upon taking the requisites & oath &c. Done on this 22nd day of January 1848. Thomas VanHook, Clk. Estate of Benjamin Harrison 12th Judicial District Court Parish of Union Final acct. of administration By reason of the law & the evidence and by further reason of the judgment y default taken by the administrator against the Under tutor not having been set aside, it is ordered, adjudged, decreed by the Court that the Negroes Woodley, Old Dave, Rachel, George, Cinea mentioned in the inventory of the Estate of Benjamin Harrison dated the first day of September 1847 be decreed to be the separate property of Jeminia Harrison against the Estate of Benjamin Harrison. It is further ordered adjudged and decreed from the law and the evidence that the judgment in favor of the widow Jeminia Harrison against the Estate of Benjamin Harrison for the sum of two thousand ten hundred and five dollars ($10505) with a strict & legal mortgage in favor of said Jeminia Harrison to [unreadable] for eighty three hundred & five dollars ($8305) from the 27th Nov 1827 & that a like lien privilege and tract mortgage be recognized in her favor for the sum of two thousand two hundred dollars rank and take date from the 1st day of January 1842 & to operate on all the real property of the Estate be sold to pay this debt, the negro boy Wiley & the Negro girl, Hellis in the possession of Josiah C. Traylor & wife are not considered in this judgment. Done & signed in open Court this day of Nov. 1849. Geo. W.
