Hopkins, Decd., Union Parish Louisiana Union Parish Louisiana Succession Book G, pp. 365 - 367 ================================================================================= ================================================================================= To the Honorable Judge of the Parish court in and for Union Parish, State of Louisiana The petition of Mrs. Mary W. Hopkins, a resident of your said Parish with respect represents that on or about the [blank] day of [blank] in the [blank] John W. Hopkins departed this life in said Parish intestate leaving your petitioner the surviving spouse of deceased and several minor children and a small Estate consisting chiefly of a small legacy or inheritance of property not more than one hundred dollars. That an Administrator of the Succession of said deceased is necessary and your petitioner being the surviving spouse and partner in community of said deceased is entitled to said administration. Wherefore petitioner prays your Honor that W. C. Smith, Recorder and Ex Officio Notary Public be ordered to make an Inventory of the property of said succession. That after due advertisement and all legal delays, petitioner be appointed Administratrix of said Succession of John W. Hopkins, Decd. upon complying with the law. For all other orders and decrees necessary in the premises and for general relief. R. W. Futch, Atty. Parish Court of Union Parish, La. Premises considered, it is ordered that the within application of Mary W. Hopkins to be appointed Administratrix of the Estate of John W. Hopkins, decd. be advertised according to law and that W. C. Smith, Recorder and Ex Officio Notary Public make an inventory and appraisement of all the property belonging to said Estate and make due return according to law. Done and signed in chambers November 29th, 1872. J. R. Tompkins Parish Judge Parish Court of Union Parish, La. Premises considered and by reason that the application of Mary W. Hopkins to be appointed Administratrix of the Estate of John W. Hopkins, decd. has been duly and legally advertised for more than ten days prior to this date and no opposition having been filed to the same. It is therefore ordered that the said Mary W. Hopkins be and is hereby appointed Administratrix of the said Estate and that letters issue to her authorizing according to law upon her taking the required oath and giving bond with good security. Done and signed in chambers this 3rd day of February 1873. Thos. C. Lewis Parish Judge $500.00 Know all men by these presents that we Mary W. Hopkins as Principal and Benjamin T. Hopkins as her security are held and firmly bound unto the Honorable Thos. C. Lewis, Judge of the Parish Court of Union Parish, Louisiana and unto his successors in office in the full sum of five hundred dollars, to the true and faithful payment of which we bind ourselves, our heirs, administrators and legal representatives firmly and in solido by these presents. Dated this 3rd day of February AD 1873. The conditions of the above obligation are such that whereas the above bounden Mary W. Hopkins has this day been duly and legally appointed Administratrix of the Estate of Jno. W. Hopkins, deceased and she has taken the oath required by law. Now therefore if the above bounden Mary W. Hopkins as principal shall faithfully and impartially discharge all the duties incumbent upon her as Administratrix of said Estate and shall render to the Judge of the Parish aforesaid a true and correct account of all her acts and doings in and about said Estate then this obligation to be null and void. Otherwise to be and remain in full force and effect against the principle and her said security in solido. Signed and acknowledged before me this the 3rd day of February AD 1873. ATTEST: J. W. Hopkins do solemnly swear that I will faithfully and impartially discharge all the duties incumbent upon me as Administratrix of the Estate of John W.
